Out at 6am this morning into the cold crisp morning air. I recently opted to do the Nike December Weekly 15k Challenge. This morning I wanted to complete a decent chunk of it so I don’t leave myself too much to do on my next run at the end of the week.
Hat, gloves two layers and chest torch on and off I set. Frosted windscreens and the dim yellow glow of street lights. I opted for the Nike Thank You Run, which is 45 mins long. Set off at a nice pace, breathing good and I found myself really enjoying jogging along, apart from a runny nose. Coach Bennett was a bit random on this one, coming out with all sorts of nonsense including his love of spaghetti and meatballs and how grateful he was for it 🙄, but he was company and in no time I reached the park, which was closed today for some reason 😬.
Headed home and saw a lovely morning sky, which I just had to take a photo of, reached home and I’d completed a comfortable 9k, leaving just 6k for my next outing, all in all a really enjoyable run.
Happy Running everyone ! 😁🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️

Sounds like a suitably challenging yet achievable goal and you are well on the way for week 1 with that run this morning. Woo hoo! What an amazing sky! 😁
I know what you mean about this guided run though - he does go on about spaghetti and meatballs a fair bit - his "Go To" meal😋 I can think of better things tbh
That sounds lovely and what a stunning sky, ours was really pretty this morning too as i watched it out the window while getting ready fir work, retirement would be nice about now but i have to wait a bit, enjoy your running and stay safe
Great run and lovely sunrise reward for you Couchphoenix- well deserved. I'm opting for the other end of the day and just been for a night run with coach Bennett. I think I need to teach myself to get up earlier and see the start of the day 😂 well done on taking up the challenge- great idea to motivate you to go out on these colder days 😁👍
He’s company on these runs, and makes them more enjoyable. Getting up really early becomes easy after a while and the run sets you up for the rest of the day. I love a challenge, I’m looking at Race at Your Pace, seems reasonably priced so you get the challenge, a medal and shirt. 👍🏃♂️🏅👕
Thanks lmc50, I’m still amazed that I can keep running for such distances and not be tired or out of breath, I still can’t believe how far I’ve come since beginning C25k
Thank you Rebecca, ☺️ old CB does come out with some random stuff from time to time, but his enthusiasm helps you continue sometimes. I do like the Nike Runs. I’ve got used to getting up that early on run days and normally I wake up before the alarm.....that sunrise was lovely, it must have been to make me disconnect my headphones and fiddle about getting my phone out of my armband to take a pic 😂 .....Glad your inspired to try early morning runs 👍🏃♀️
Brilliant ! Reading this all bleary eyed in front of glaring computer screen at 8am practically dark outside with rain lashing against the windows - ugh ! Can’t imagine being able to get up at 6am to run in the dark but full of awe and respect for those that do !!! Also the distance - my new HM plan has me doing quite short distances and I’m itching for my long run this weekend..... but have another finishing line to get across before then so ..... enjoy your running day off !
Thank you Juliet202, ☺️it gets easier getting up that early, it’s like anything else I suppose, you get into a routine. I live on a busy main road which at that time of day is practically deserted. I’m looking at progressing to HM stage next year, wouldn’t that be something....good luck with your plan 👍🏃♀️
