I woke up this morning with a start when I heard the binlorry rattling outside. I’d set my alarm for 7.20, thinking plenty of time to put the bins out and then run. Obviously not this morning!! Dashed around and managed to catch them and then came back in and panicked because I thought I’d slept through my alarm and that it was 8.30!! I glanced out the window and then raced upstairs to tell my son he’d slept in and his van was parked on the corner and he’d better move it before the traffic warden came and ticketed him. He leapt out all flustered and then said “ it’s 7.30, Mother, you pillock!!” Not a good start.
So I made a coffee and breakfast and was sat eating my porridge when I realised I don’t usually eat before I run...🙄 so ended up sitting about, pootling on Facebook, for about an hour and half before I actually went and ran. Not an auspicious start to the day!!!
Well I ran my 5k... I say ran.... I still cannot run continuously again so it was 5:1 run/walk, but better than nowt I suppose. And today seemed harder than usual( even Strava told me that!!🤣) no idea why but now I’m home I’m glad I made the effort and got out there. I nearly put it off for a day but tomorrow morning I have a dental checkup. Not looking forward to it as I haven’t had any ‘close encounters’ with other people ( apart from the hospital appointment but she wasn’t right in my face). Im quite a gregarious person normally but since Covid I’m finding quite the opposite. I only want to see my family and nobody else really.
Will we ever get back to normal ?or will it just be “ the new normal”? 🙁

I know what you mean about the dentist limberlou. But I’ve had appointments with optician and dental hygienists since the pandemic and I’m glad to say that everything is being done with great care. No luck with a dental appointment at our surgery unless it’s an emergency. Our nation will suffer in many ways as a result of this virus and the knock on effects.
Well done for getting out there again. The patience with a slow introduction to running is well worth it. I ended up with a 2nd injury, when I thought I was ready to go a bit faster, my Achilles tendons disagreed.
I wonder if it’s partly an age thing that we’re so cautious. I had an optician appointment recently and it felt strange. It’s so sad. Also when we walked yesterday we tucked to the edge of the pavement yet a couple of young girls (chatting) stayed abreast and practically rubbed shoulders with us despite our efforts 🤷♀️ I did laugh at your morning confusions! Well done in getting out despite all that. Keep safe.
I’m blaming it on my age. I have a reminder in my phone to tell me on Sunday night to put my bin out but then i think I’ll do it in the morning and then I forget
Yeah so many of the youngsters don’t seem to care. I see them in huddles laughing and so close to each other... and then THEY go home to their parents, and then their parents go and shop in Tesco where my son is now working ( part time as he was made redundant 2 weeks before the first lockdown). And yet my son and daughter cannot come and visit me in my house.
Better out than in! We were closer to those girls than we’ve been to our grandchildren in London for months!! I’m on your side. Are we getting old and grumpy? 🤣👵🏻
Well done for getting out there. I think a lot of people are finding the situation particularly tough at the moment, so running any run is valuable for us. Thank you for sharing your run with us.
