Re-running C25K with a friend but want to start my own 10k training?

Title about sums it up! I graduated Couch to 5k a few months ago and have since been pretty consistently running 5ks three times a week, I love it, and last week ran my first 6k! A friend of mine wants to start running and asked if she could come along, and I of course said yes to a running buddy but suggested we start with couch to 5k as I know she tried to get into it over the summer but didn't get past week 1 on her own, and I know from having done it how good it is at building up fitness!

We've done two of the week 1 runs together so far and it's been really fun. On the second run yesterday, I ran 5k first before meeting up with her to do the C25K run, which felt like a nice way to keep up my runs without sacrificing a rest day, but I was pretty tired afterwards as it totalled to 11k even though a good chunk of that will have been walking.

So the thing is, I had planned to start JuJu's Magic Plan but now I'm not sure how to do both or combine 10k training with essentially rerunning Couch to 5K as moral support? Any ideas? Has anyone done anything similar? I know that I want to be running more than the C25K because those runs, especially the earlier ones, aren't really challenging anymore, and I do want to build up to a 10k, but I also don't want to overdo it/lose my rest days and end up injured!

Any advice is much appreciated, thank you xxx

Could you do two runs with your friend from the c25k plan and count them as ju jus short runs then do your third run on your own as ju jus long run each week. Explain to your friend that she has the ability to do the third c25k run on her own each week. Happy running 🤗

I did what Grannyhugs said with my daughter on c25k when I started the bridge. Worked for me.

I'm running with my daughter who is doing C25K.

We've found a 1 km figure of eight loop & we run it in opposite directions. It means that we start together, finish together & see each other frequently during the run, but it means that we can both run at our own pace. It works reasonably well if you can find a suitable route.

My friend often doesn’t want to do the same as me. I run to a carpark to meet her, we run together, I run home. That way I do more.
