Longest run -13.3k. And... it was ok!!

I had a plan to run to a nearby town, wasn’t sure of distance but set myself the challenge and hubby would pick me up.

It took me an hour and 35 minutes but the pace and elevation were suitable, weather was drizzly and cool with only one big shower of rain (perfect conditions apart from head cold the next day!)

It’s nice having a particular destination to aim for and not having to loop back.

Super chuffed with myself.

You deserve to be super chuffed with yourself, well done, running that distance is really very good, well done, the next time you see a roadsign saying 8 miles (13K) you can think to yourself or tell someone that I ran that distance recently.

Goodness, I hadn’t thought about the mileage - 8 miles. That’s fab. My long-term goal is ten. Not too far away.

🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Yes!! Awesome achievement! That's over 8 miles. Well done you. What a terrific achievement. That's a good time too. Did it feel ok? You've every right to feel chuffed today. That 10 miles is within reach 🎽

GT, it did feel ok! Which is a big deal to be able to say. For me the weather plays a big deal, cool and drizzly. Perfect wee combo.

Are you feeling ok after your recent mega-long run?

in reply to Leosmit

Yes, thank you. Ready for a quiet week next week then go for 20 the week after 😊

Thank you Sandra. It’s amazing how following all the rules that come with C25K and the guidance on here works!

What a fantastic run, brought a smile to my face remembering similar destination runs that I've done. There's something really special about getting there. Happy running 🤗

Thank you, GH. I read so many posts about longer distances and it’s just incredible that I can now do likewise. 😊

Gosh that's a long way! How lovely that hubby picks you up and you don't have to work out a loop or run there and back.

Leosmit profile image
LeosmitGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Lifluf

Lifluf, I’ve done that for a few of my longer runs. Just run in one direction and get picked up. I find it works well, aiming for a particular town/village/landmark and not having to loop back. Makes for an interesting run.

Hope you’re still out enjoying your runs.

I think this is a great idea!!

Yes. I am lucky that there are a lot of footpaths and tracks round me so i can usually work out a circular route to match the distance I want to do.

Don't think my hubby would be quite as accommodating as yours.

Impressive, and inspirational 😊

Reminds me of when my very fit and active dad first got his bus pass - he'd take a bus ride out for miles then walk home.

Clever man! Different routes to keep him motivated for the walking. Lovely to read of your progress also. Keep it up.

Mum 2 two, it will be a while but actually starting to think that 10 miles possible.

How have the new exercises been going? Feeling any benefit?

You're doing such a good job of building up slowly that you'll kkow just when the time is right.

He told me to have 1/2 rest days between doing them and ideally do them after a run so having done them yesterday with him I'm going to do again on Saturday morning after a run. But... having done them yesterday, this morning was the first morning this week I didn't have a stiff calf and foot when I woke up 👍 I've had to dig the dumbbells out of the loft though as he's told me to put them in a rucksack and on my back so I have to work harder 😅

Great run! I have a plan to run 'away' and get my husband to pick me up from wherever I stop! Hadn't happened yet but it's a plan!

Leosmit profile image
LeosmitGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Roxdog

I’ve done it that way a few times for longer runs. Keeps the run interesting as you’ve got a different destination point to aim for.

Roxdog profile image

Exactly! I sometimes struggle at the end of runs when I know I'm near home! This way, who know where I'll end up. Much more exciting!
