Week 3 done towards 10k

When I set up the garmin 10k plan I’m not sure why I put that ideal run days were Sunday Tuesday Thursday and Friday, I really don’t

I think because I have alternate days off on those days, I didn’t realise it would set up a plan running all four days every week

It’s been a busy week at work, yesterday’s run was tough, I worked over 2 hours yesterday so did some mumbling a about leaving a bit early today to make up, my boss just said it’s up to you you know I never check when you arrive and leave

I managed to get out the door 15 minutes early

Home, cup of tea, change and off

It’s beautiful, the sky is blue the trees lush and green a real pleasure to run round our park, we no longer puff and pant but legs were tired today, lots of different big dogs to admire and some children on bikes whizzing past us, round and round we went, gradually getting slower

Then buzz went the watch and it’s done I’ve been listening to Bowie, Willow listens to Cold Play unless he’s listening to Willow and working out new tunes I think i will download something else next run

3.22k today makes 17.7k this week and we are quite impressed with that....

Have a great weekend all, it’s my weekend off and next run Sunday we will be joined by son of Willow who usually runs for 30 minutes and is probably way faster than us 😀

I think it a good idea to have planed run days as even though you might be tired from working it can give you that push to get out the door and i think its worked for you.

Great run for both of you and enjoy your weekend off 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

I think the Garmin plan expects you to run 4 times a week - or at least that's what it wanted when I looked at it. So that put me off trying it as I'm hard enough pushed to get the 3 runs in.

Sounds like you're enjoying it though!

It is hard but we will see how far we get, looking at next week we run less so maybe it will be ok

Couple of points on the plan... you can change the days whenever you wish, and if you need to skip a run just try to keep the long run in (if I need to skip one speed sessions are always the ones to go). All decent plans are built with a little redundancy in, I read somewhere that they’re designed to need about 85% of them complete to be a success.

Nice running, and a very respectable total to set you up for Sunday’s run.

Some days I find it hard to fit work around my runs 🤣 but I’m all quiet on that front again at the moment (touch wood). Finding the balance can be hard... you guys are doing great though.

My calendar says tomorrow is speed repeats in a 65 minute run... wanna swap? Up early and get it done day for me. You’ve earned the break tomorrow though with work and running and no doubt 101 other things... pamper yourselves.

Willows son is visiting, he’s moving north in a couple of weeks so some dad and son time needed, me I’ll cook and bake and generally do mummy stuff, and maybe a walk with daughter and dog, a bit over a year ago he visited and we took him over the downs to run while we walked it will be great to run with him

That’s gonna be a very special run indeed.

Well done though on knocking out another week. 4 days can be demanding but if it's working and you're feeling benefits then well done both of you. It'll be nice Sunday to run with someone different too. This regular running will really help you too. Don't feel too much pressure as three times a week will get you to 10k too.

My thoughts are if it starts to feel too tough we will walk Thursdays run, Thursday is generally my longest most rubbish day at work, If i’m working the weekend i get Friday off and if it’s my weekend off a run is a good way to kick off the weekend

I gave up smoking twice, once nearly 8 years ago and vaped for 3 years i put on 12 pounds once in January this year and put on another 12 pounds now trying to shift a bit of weight and the longer runs use up a few more calories, but sadly now i don’t smoke food just tastes so much better lol 😂
