C25k 2nd Runniversary

My Facebook feed reminded me on Monday of the heady day of 13 July 2018 when I finally completed C25k. Which means my 2nd parkrun Runniversary must be this Saturday (it was actually 21 July, so not the exact date but close!) We’d already decided to go for a walk with the pooch on Monday before I realised and I told myself it was too hot yesterday. This morning though it was cooler, cloudy and only 17c when I set off for my first run up to Monbazillac of this summer’s trip. I really do wish we didn’t live at the top of the hill - it does make the last 0.5k painful 😖 Anyway, 6k celebratory run complete in 38:30 and 72m of elevation compared with 15m back home. Just got back from a drive out to Le Bugue (for you Oldfloss ) and a nice lunch. Happy running peeps 😃

Happy runiversary . Huh you’ve found hills 🤣🤣 see you at the top. Sounds like an idyllic trip, have a great time, by the end of summer that hill will be well conquered. Happy running 🤗

Thank you 😊 I am going to use it for some hill repeats as I did last year. It really is a brute, but thankfully quite short!

I think moving to a house after 25yrs in a bungalow has helped with my hills🤣

I haven’t got that excuse 😂 The french house is single storey though, so the hill can replace the stairs in England!

Happy 2nd Runniversary Sandie - it’s amazing how time flies. Those hills will make running in Lincolnshire So much easier 😂

Thanks Dexy 😊 Isn’t it just. It’s just over a year since we did Leamington parkrun as well. Incredible!

Unfortunately we couldn’t make the Leamington meet-up but I know you had a good turn out for that one.

Happy runniversary Sandie! 🎉🎉🎉 It’s a dangerous combo - Speedy Sandie and hills. You’ll be unstoppable and uncatchable too when you’ve nailed those! 💪 🏃‍♀️

You wouldn’t think so if you could’ve seen me puffing and panting 😂

You’ll puff and pant a bit less each time though, then you’ll be off! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Thank you BC 😊 Everybody knows french food is ultra healthy eh? And running in the heat burns more calories. Well, that’s what I’m telling myself anyway 😂

Congratulations Sandie1961 on your 2nd Runniversary. 🎉🎉🎉 And here's to many further years of happy running. 🏃‍♀️😊

I graduated C25k in May 2018 , although I have not been as regular in my running habits as you. I have recently had a 2 month break from running with the aim of reclaiming more of our garden. Re-started my running at C25k W4 and due to attempt W5R3 tommorow. To give you an idea of the elevation gain around here 6km gives 123m to 200m elevation gain depending on my route!

I think I had forgotten that we began at similar times so I shall watch you in the distance inspiring me on!

Thank you but Wow 😮 I really respect those of you who can run hills. I find them so hard. It is nice though to have the variety of undulating terrain rather than the rather static permanently flat. I did have a couple of wobbles during lockdown when I wondered if it was really worth it if I was going to have to spend the foreseeable future running alone and only Damien’s virtual parkrun kept me going. Now I’m going to go back to 3 times a week with (not) parkrun on Saturday, hills or speed one day and a weekly longer run to get back up to 10k again while we’re over here.

If you can imagine roads in the shape of a capital H, we live on the horizontal. The two roads that form verticals of the H that pass the ends of our road both have hill in there names. I really have almost no choice but to run on hills. We live in Derbyshire. 😊 All the best with building up to 10k. 🏃‍♀️😊 Enjoy your time in France. 🥖🇫🇷😊

Guess you’re in the Peak somewhere? I’m going to Strava my hill to see just how steep it is. I’ll probably be really disappointed that it isn’t as steep as it feels!

We are about 10 miles outside the peak district. Feeling quite excited at the prospect of my W5R3 20 minute run tomorrow. I am able to do repeated circuits by a river but it is hard to avoid people there. Certainly first time around I chose to keep near the river, but I shall go to the hills tomorrow. My husband is in the clinically extremely vulnerable category so we have been seriously avoiding people. I have not joined Strava. Happy running to you. 🏃‍♀️😊 How long is your time in France?

Must be hard having to shield, but you need to stay safe. We’re here till about mid September - it feels so much less scary than the UK!

Thank you 😊 Yes it really is only 2 years. Feels much longer. France is great - off out shortly with Shake-and-run for her hubby’s birthday in one of our favourite restaurants 🥂
