I only heard about this yesterday! Anyone else getting involved with (not) parkrun with their local Parkrun community?

Just as I’ve hit a bit of a wall in my running, this comes along!

I ran my first (not) parkrun this morning and posted.my time on my home parkrun page, you can run it any day of the week but like official Parkruns I prefer to run on a Saturday at the same time as they are held.

It’s a good way of keeping it true by running at Saturday 09:00am 😊

It’s nice to get involved again after it was cancelled so abruptly 😊 Nice to see so many already who had done it.

Dexy’s, UpTheStanley, Mr and Mrs Coddfish and I did one on Tuesday. We all did our own run and met at a pre-arranged place for a socially distant coffee! Another one planned for next week- all good fun!

Oh that does sound fun, well done you guys and keep up the good work 👍

Me too! given we can do it any day of the week I suspect I will sonrack up more (not)parkrun stats than parkrun stats 😎. I had the honour of being tailwalker for our local event for much of this week 🤣.

Thanks for letting me know about it. You can submit one run a day and it will take your best time that week. I might try the UCP parkrun route later today in order to keep it true 🙂

I did it too JaoJao. Even though I’ve been running damienair ’s virtual PR each weekend, it felt nice to be able to record my time on Eastville’s (not) PR’s web page. It felt official somehow! There were only 17 of us on the list this week which surprised me somewhat. It’ll be interesting to see if it catches on.

Happy running - I hope (not) PR helps boost your spirits! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️😀

I think it will catch on! It’s interesting that parkrun didn’t communicate it on an email, I heard it from others and then my local parkrun Facebook page mentioned it.

Thank you, it has lifted my spirits and I’m getting back out there today!

I had an email this weekend, but it had also been mentioned in at least one earlier email this week. I seem to get a lot of parkrun emails at the moment 🙂. May be worth checking your spam/junk mail?

Actually I did get an email - maybe yours went into your Spam folder? Have fun! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

They sent an email to everyone who gets the weekly email from them. Check your profile to sign up for emails, there’s lots of good stuff on there.

I did 2 not parkruns this week, and it’s great to see familiar names on the results list.

I recorded mine but so far I'm the only one. Does that mean I've won?

JaoJao profile image
JaoJaoGraduate10 in reply to ForestGrump63

Yes you have! Well done 🙂 I think as people start to hear about it, it will start getting more parkrunners uploading their results

Yes! Don’t tell anyone about it and you can be a winner every week 😂😂

I’m doing it. I was going to do a 4,5&10k run each week. Now I’m doing 5,5&10, just so as I can record two of them!

Your enthusiasm is jumping out of my screen, keep up the great work 🙂 parkrun still manages to change lives even during lockdown ❤️

Did mine same time as my usual parkrun. It felt good and helped to motivate me to try a bit harder to speed up. Didn’t quite get a Pb but close. 😊

Did you do your normal parkrun route too. It’s motivating that’s for sure. I want to get back out there again for the next run, and I became quite bored and lazy over the last months since there’s been no parkrun.

You will get that PB, keep going 👍

No I did it on my treadmill with the fan on full blast and the french windows wide open! I really don’t enjoy running so much in the heat and humidity so as I got a treadmill to help me cope whilst being shielded I have continued using it in the heat.

I’d love to get back to my parkrun route but whilst I can be more comfortable on the treadmill I will stay here for a while. I’m still getting back to my pre lockdown fitness as for 8 weeks I didn’t do any running or walking until I got the treadmill and realised I could walk around the garden! But I’m getting thee and am really enjoying longer walks which don’t cause me to get dizzy from walking in circles! 😂

They Specifically ask you not to do your normal parkrun route on Saturday at 9.00. But you can run a different route or a different time. See you out there next week jaojao

I went out this morning, I think Sunday mornings are perfect and quiet.

Didn’t get the chance to complete a parkrun before lockdown, registered yesterday and ran my first (not) parkrun this morning. 😊

You will love (proper) parkrun when it gets started again! You will fast get addicted like many of us on here.

YES! I submitted a time for last week. It's come along just as I needed something fun to aim for. I'm saving my longer runs for Saturdays so will probably do the 5k timing on Tuesdays. Hopefully my lurcher won't slow me down ( he is on a go slow without a crowd of runners to give him a sense of an event!).

That’s exactly the kind of excitement I had. It’s nice to see the results table back again. All the best for your run tomorrow ❤️
