Hi Runners!! πŸ‘‹πŸ½

Do you ever wake up and decide on a slow run?

I did this morning. Waking up at 5:30 with so much light outside, I lay there awake for a bit, but going back to sleep was extremely unlikely. So, I eventually decided it would be good to go out in the quiet morning and just enjoy moving my body for a bit! I just wanted to do a run! No pressure, no times, no pace, no goals, no plans, just being in the moment....run!πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈ

It was slow...slow...slow and I loved every single step of it!! I ran!!

There was a pigeon who sat pecking in the grass and I expected he would fly away as I approached. He was well aware of me from my approach πŸ‘€...and he never moved! I was no more than 30cm away running alongside him. Clearly I was super slow & NO threat!! That did make me smile! 🐦

Happy safe, running Runners!! ❀️

P.S just realised, no thigh niggles either!! πŸ’₯

My absolute favourite type of run Fab! So glad you enjoyed it, and great that the pesky thigh niggle didn’t emerge either. 😘

Ah thanks Katnap!! πŸ€— It was lovely. No rush to get β€˜it’ done, just a run!! If I was in a different location, I’d probably have ran for a lot longer! Bin collections day took me home. Dodging bins and then eventually the bin truck. I decided I better get out the way! 🀩❀️

What a good plan - I’m having a coffee before heading out (too late πŸ₯΅) but maybe I’ll try ninja running too!! See what I can creep up on πŸ˜‚. Have a safe day Fab.

Ninja running!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Yes, that’s a good way to think of it. I had to look back for a second, thinking how strange that he didn’t fly off....I know I’m slow, but what cheek! 🀣🀣 Then I thought how nice it was that he didn’t feel he had to go anywhere! We both just carried on! 😁❀️

Love this. There is so much to slower running, something I've been working on a while. Lots of evidence suggests a steady pace on all runs can be really beneficial. Well done on another run done 🌈😁

Thanks so much GTFC!! πŸ€— I really do think there are benefits in slowing it down!! Endurance maybe. Then the speed just goes up naturally. Takes you by surprise! I quite like that. 😁❀️

Great post and wish I'd had such an enjoyable experience on a similar run! Recently followed one of my usual loops but under the direction of a long, fat-burning plan on Huawei Health app - linked to and actively monitoring my fitness band whilst jogging. What a strange and difficult experience! Slow jogging at about 4-5/10 of effort, constantly being told that my heart rate was too high and that pace needed to slow. A real exercise in self-control, especial as others went zooming past me. Pace per km was abt 1.5mins slower than usual, however, I was able to extend the run further (outside of timed plan) and recovered very quickly afterwards. Maximum and average heart beats per minute were abt 15-20 bpm lower. Will try and repeat soon to see if it is any easier and more enjoyable second time round.

Hey SadlyBroke!! Firstly a big hug for you!! πŸ€— You got out there and you ran!! πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½!! Now my first instinctive thought (and I have to be honest) on reading your reply is β€˜stats’!!! πŸ₯΄ I think we can sometimes so easily become so burdened with them. I know I had to stop thinking about stats to really fully enjoy my runs during the programme and beyond.

I have nothing against them whatsoever, but I prefer them to be a wonderful surprise, rather than a regimeπŸ˜€. Particularly if they invoke any feelings of failure. You see... if I’ve gone out there to do any run (and believe me I’ve done 10 minute runs...and I’ve posted about it too because ......)! I’m happy! 😁

I can tell you that I absolutely run for fun first!! I couldn’t tell you what my heart rate has been on any run and I have had mild but high BP for many many years! I am always guided by my body and will slow down if I can feel that I may be pushing too hard.

Are you still doing the C25K programme or now running freely?

Could you try another App? The Nike Run Club App guided runs do check in with you about how you’re feeling while you’re running and it reminds you to adjust if needed really well.

We all have a preference for how we do it, so I hope that this may help you to decide and most of all that you find your fun in all of the runs. Even the ones you don’t enjoy are a win!! πŸ˜‰ You’re out there!! Well done! Enjoy!! ❀️

Ah the perils of having a science and engineering background πŸ˜‰. This session stood out just because it was a very different type of run, being so so much slower than normal (to the extreme of being hard) and afterward just had to see what it translated into in terms of HB and pace. Completed C25K back in March and have been gradually increasing distance with aim of getting to 10k over coming weeks. I'm doing this with mix of long, short, fast and slow runs, even 'naked' runs without music or a running plan in my ear. Loving the experience, especially the runs in the glorious early morning sunshine. Habit formed!

Brilliant!! πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ˜

Well that engineer’s mind explains the stats! πŸ€“πŸ˜‰ You’re happy!! βœ…

You’re having fun and it sounds like you’re having a very good time with all different types of runs and the stats!! Keep going!! Well done! 🀩πŸ’₯πŸ’₯❀️
