My Saturday trot

β€’28 Replies

It puts a spring in your step waking to blue skies and sunshine.

As always I woke sooooo hungry, fruit juice and porridge, quick freshen up and I'm away.

I battled those speed Gremlins and good grief, it's still so hard, but battle I didπŸ‘. It was absolutely lovely outdoors, the odd runner and cyclist everyone adhering to safe distancing πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ™‚.

I headed towards the area my c25k journey began. The towpath weaves it's way towards Llangollen, picturesque Bridges with mirror like reflections, and that hypnotic gravel Crunch of a running dad chugging along πŸ˜‚. Turn around point was at horseshoe falls, grrrrr had to fight to open my gel..... But I won. Refuelled and about turn back towards home..so far so good. It's starting to get a tad warm in the sun. An unseen woodpecker is tapping away loudly. A few people we're out in their gardens that ran down to the canal side, everyone's cheery..... The effects of a little sunlight πŸŒžπŸŒžπŸ‘. One chap in his garden has the most magnificent magnolia ( also called the lightbulb tree/bush) it's full of flowers. Took me straight back to horticultural college when I saw him riddling his soil, the old skills are still the best. I had to pause briefly as 2nd gel opening was as hard as the 1st πŸ™ƒ. I summon my legs to give me a burst of speed....... But they aren't cooperating haha so I'll just plod along. Thankfully the absence of hills is a bonus today πŸ₯³ I'd have rolled back down I'm sure....

The last 2klms I'm sure I was on autopilot.

And ahhhhhhhhh that lovely noise of a Garmin beep..... Tad sweaty πŸ₯΅

Ahhhhh thank you Buddy πŸ€— It's an odd thing this running Buddy, I mean I've owned this set of legs for 50 yrs but I've never really thought of myself as a runner but errrr I'm gonna rethink that 🀫

Great run Hidden 😎

Had you planned to run a HM or did it just happen?

The magnolia trees are soooo beautiful in full blossom 🌸

Hope you get a chance to relax this afternoon! X

in reply to AliHC

Thanks Ali, I've been itching to do a long run and the nightshift wasn't too bad last night so this morning i thought let's go πŸƒπŸƒ.

I've just survived Aldi with my mini teenager πŸ‘ and now it's officially feet up time. But I'll look busy and cook tea ready for Mrs Wife's arrival from the NHS πŸ™‚

Well done on your very modestly named’Saturday Trot’!! Beautifully descriptive post of your run. It really conjured up a picture of the lovely Welsh countryside. 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 😊

Thankyou DD , it was a very lovely part of Welsh Wales this morning πŸ₯³ and towards the end it was getting pretty warm πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅

Well done lmc. Good times all round. And "riddling"? A new word on me. Talking in riddles? Something to do with making champagne? I give up ... maybe thanks for the education too!

in reply to ForbiddenPlanet

Thanks FP a soil riddle is pretty much like a big ( generally circular) sieve it separates the soil from stones etc πŸ‘

If only we could all be 'a tad sweaty' . With the weather heating up I was soaked through with sweat yesterdayπŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Really great times there on a monumental run. I always find the last 3 miles of it really tough. Well done mate!

Cheers GTFC , the oomph of the gels did help definitely towards the end πŸ‘πŸ‘

I read your title, expecting you had a modest little jaunt in the gorgeous countryside, loved your usual beautiful photos and then saw the numbers. Brilliant and well done Imc. πŸ‘

in reply to lexi6

Thanks Lexi it seems porridge with added blueberries gives you a little extra oomph 😁
