And the physio said, carry on running- only not so much ๐Ÿค”

So, after my triumphant return to running, my third run resulted in a very achey hip, and a slightly sore foot. So for run four off the IC I went back to week 1 run 1 of c25k. Much more manageable and foot was fine but hip still complaining ever since that third run. Return to the physio this morning, and thankfully she is still pleased with my progress, but thinks I need to build up still more strength on my right side, and I have lots of bad habits to unlearn. Lots of step lunges and balancing for me, yippee! But I will be running the week 1 run, once a week, until I'm more confident in my right side doing its stuff for me.

So pleased grumpyoldgirl that's brilliant news. One run per week is so much better than no running at all and you'll have your physio exercises to keep you busy. Good luck ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ˜Š

Yep, I absolutely trust her. Which is more than I could say about some gp's I've met sadly.

Good to have a plan of action GoG, and I know those exercises in themselves are quite a workout!

Good luck with that strengthening, and enjoy those early runs again...I'm looking forward to doing them too. ๐Ÿ˜Š xxx

Great that you can carry on and havenโ€™t been sidelined. Make sure those shorter/less frequent runs are the most beautiful/enjoyable routes you can find ๐Ÿ˜Š

Good point kt, I'll make them as special as I can

Right with you! I think redoing C25K is the way to go. Perhaps day 3 of each week on alternate days? So 3 weeks to get back to complete? Wishing you all the best.

Sadly I've been told to hold back, only one run a week. I have to learn a new way of running, and when I run longer than 3 minutes I forget and revert to old bad habits. So until it becomes second nature I have to stick with shorter runs, with lots of recovery days in between.

Hi grumps! You are being really sensible and following instructions; I always follow physio advice to the letter...it helps them to help us. If people do their own thing the physio has no point to navigate from at the next consultation. This is all investment time with the dividend being fewer injuries in the future; but you get all of that, I know. ๐Ÿค—

Well mine is my left hip so we could maybe run a 3 legged race?? I went to physio today and came away with a list of exercises AND I have been to Pilates tonight where my lovely Pilates teacher, Rachael, concentrated on strengthening exercises for myself and another lady who has a similar issue. Iโ€™m going to be aching tomorrow but my physio said aching is good -hurting is not !! So itโ€™s ok to ache!!๐Ÿ˜œ

Good to know that aching is ok Lou! Three legged race, that made me lol, that's something I've never tried ๐Ÿ˜‚

I also have a lovely Pilates instructor, my class is tomorrow. She watches my right knee like a hawk ๐Ÿ™„
