Hey Flouncers and Flouncettes!

Wow, it's the last week of February already!

How have you been getting on with your Flouncy Quest? Tell us all about it in the comments!!

I have been down all the the past week with a horrid virus that made me hurt all over, so no Flouncing for me 😣 I managed to drag myself round the Brighton Half Marathon yesterday, and am now needing to rest for a bit, but I hope to get a little work done later in the week 😊😊😊

What is the Quest?

The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.

Some popular goals are:

β˜… To run three times a week

β˜… To slowly increase distance

β˜… To train for a specific race

β˜… To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine

This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is COMMENT BELOW with something like:

I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I want to ..............

I'm going to put everyone's Quests right in this post, so we can inspire each other!

And I'll be back here every week to check in - hope you will all do the same!

I suggest you hit the 'Save post' button below, so you'll get Flouncy email updates 😊😊😊

Let's continue having some February fun!!!

Hello roseabi, first of all congratulations on your HM . From what I had seen the weather wasn't great.

I have managed to run 3 times a week and I've done one 10k doing another on Wednesday. 2 weeks ago I had the worst cold ever so only got out once that week.

Been soaked on every run but if I'd to wait for better weather I'd never run.

Just going out just now , we have snow again but it's not lying.

Hope you recover well from your HM😊

Sorry to hear you've not been well. But well done in the half marathon. I've been enjoying hills with my last set on Wednesday of 185m elevation in total. Then drove to mummytobe for the foreseeable which means new routes. 6k in high winds round Dundee on Friday, trip to the Kelpies on Sunday for a freezing 6k. If I do 18k over tue, thur, sat that will give a total 100k in February- I do like a challenge. Happy running everyone

They are amazing. 30m tall you can see them from motorway as you drive past but they are built beside a canal with a wonderful park around them. I've just discovered theres a 5k race near them too.

I would love to see them - one day! I know someone who worked on their construction, and he shared a lot of photos on Facebook, fascinating and beautiful 😍

I attached photo to post on Sunday following run. Taken from car after run so you’d have to Zoom in. I don’t like stopping during a run and it was too cold to walk back to them after run.

Hi Roseabi, very impressed with you doing the HM after being so poorly.

I didn't meet my 8k, or my QECP parkrun targets due to the lovely February weather. But I did have fun at southsea parkrun on Saturday with the 50mph wind. A very easy 2.5, followed by a very hard one. And we are in the departure lounge so it looks like I’ll make the skiing target

Hi everyone,

I was feeling a tad deflated following my physio appointment last Tuesday. Very little change in my foot and still having the more painful days. She discovered that my left foot was weak too, so I am building strength with more balance/toe exercises.

I have started having a go at the 30 days of Yoga with Adrienne. I am allowed to do the calf stretching required in downward dog so felt ready for some different moves.

This is working well so far, with me splitting my physio and alternating the glute/core moves with the balance stretch moves. Early days, but feeling more positive again. I hope my foot responds. 🀞Still quite uncomfortable by the evening.

Huge Well done Abi, on your Brighton HM, I hope you recover well.

Good luck to everyone, hope you can finish this flouncing quest with a flourish!😊xxx

So sorry to hear Physio didn't go as planned/hoped but you're a tough cookie who is highly motivated to get better so we know you will. It sounds like you have a great plan in place. You'll get there with that great Bbr attitude 😊

in reply to Bluebirdrunner

Oh bluebird, how disappointing to hear that your foot is still painful. You are so patient and so consistent with your strength exercises and stretching. It will all stand to you I’m sure. Virtual hug to you. πŸ€—

Sorry Jan to hear your news on your other foot also.

It will be great when you have rebuilt the strength and rebalanced things.

Your running physio is taking good care of you, your fortunate to have each other as we all know what a good patient you are.

Look forward to the day that you are back out there Jan.

Onwards and upwards.

Aw thank you Tbae, that is kind and means a lot to me. x

How is your physio for your rotator cuff injury coming along, much relief yet?

You are balancing everything quite nicely imho, with your running and outdoor gardening chores and those lovely grandchildren to run around after. Don't worry too much about the distances you are covering at the moment, enjoy the quality of the run and the well-being you feel afterwards. It's what I miss most. ❀😊xxx

Thanks Jan.Good advice.

I find the shoulder painful after I have worked it.But can usually with medication start the day pain free. The itching from the shoulder all the way down the arm is annoying also.My physio I think is on holiday again,so I am waiting to get an appointment for the steroid injection.Tbh I have been hoping it will just disappear, but if anything its getting worse and more persistent.

Thank you for asking and wishing that you will soon have that well-being feeling back soon.

It was just the most lovely, lovely jog BBr and perfect having your company. A very comfortable 16 degrees, not a cloud in the sky and only a 13 kilometre breeze. We finished our run at the park, stopped to take a couple of photos and to pat yummy Hugo, a 6 month old Cavalier King Charles/Bichon cross and because it seemed too far to walk home we crossed the bridge over the stream and ran home instead. πŸ™‚πŸ™‚ xx

I will have to content myself this month with a dismal showing of 50k+ and hopefully I can get a 12k trot in.Compared to my flier in Jan of 120k and longest trot of 11k.

I am never, never, never giving up.Hopefully March will see me return to HM distance for the second time only.Last time was 18 months ago.

I'm loving it. I'm still managing 6 out of 7 days at least 10 min run.

I'm doing roughly 30 mins workout every day, squats are up to 60, crunches 50 or 60, did 75 Sunday, just for fun! Planking going great, almost at 1 min straight armed.

Its really, really going well, I'm very pleased with myself. πŸ’ͺ🏻😁

Aw, sorry to hear you were unwell, hope you feel more like yourself and at risk of sounding like your mother, how on earth did you manage a HM?!?!?

Well, officially I’m a February Flounce Failure. But alas, do I feel a failure... not in the slightest!! I was aiming to get out 2 or 3 times a week. This is impossible at times due to children, work and hubby’s big hours, so can’t be helped. So I’ve only managed 6 runs in February. But... here’s the big news, 3 of my runs were over 6k (my furthest ever) and the other 3 were over 5 k. Am delighted with that!!

I have stuck with the plank challenge - the 60 sec one. Goodness, I find it tough but sticking with it.

Feb flounce definitely made me set a few challenges - thank you for that!

Still flouncing, but rather damply and into a headwind. 😳 Keeping up with the beginner’s planketty plank and doing my 4 times a week for sure. Plus I have set myself a β€œbuild up the squats” goal, adding one each week and trying to keep up with doing a group several times a day. Up now to groups of 10 and at least 3 times a day. Running 3 times a week but keep having to cut out before 10k - Weather &/or commitments are thwarting me. πŸ˜¨πŸ’¦ Hoping intervals are doing something towards progress, and there’s still a few days to go.... 🐒

Hope you're feeling better soon. A half marathon fully fit sounds incredible, huge admiration for completing it whilst poorly. Just competed the 6k run for the magic plan tonight so 3k on Wednesday then onto wk 3. All good on the plankety planathon, managed the first of the 2 minute routines yesterday, so number 2 tomorrow. My next yoga session is day 29 so only 2 more to go. I plan to run through the full 30 days again once more before I decide what to do next. Thank you the flouncing motivation, it's definitely kept me going!

Wow Abi, you ran a half marathon while feeling under the weather. Serious RESPECT to you! Well, I'm not being that patient really and I'm running a couple of 5kms every week. I would run more but the weather has been so bad - rain and flooding, strong winds and storms and today some snow. I enjoyed splashing through puddles and mud at lunchtime today. My physio has changed my strength exercises as I was getting quads of steel from wall squats (in my dreams πŸ™„), so I'm doing lunges with weights 😳Plodding along, happy to be running and increasing my distance every so slightly, ever so slowly. Well you know what they say - two out of three aint bad...

I have also been sick for the last 2 weeks (never in my life have I been sick for so long - it is very frustrating!) but I have still managed to keep up three times a week running, although not the distances I have been hoping for. So I am a bit behind on the magic plan, and probably wont finish that until March.

But the other good news is that I cracked the 35minute 5K! (before I got sick). So I'm super happy with that - and it should only be a week or 2 into March that I make the 10K distance and I'm absolutely fine with that :)
