The December Vibe- week 3 quest πŸ¦‹πŸŒβš‘οΈ

Hello wonderful people, we are now in week 3 of the December Vibe quest. I love running in the Winter but most days of the week I run in the dark and I miss the daylight. Anyone else find this? The pic is a tree I pass most days that looks rather ghostly in the light of my head torch!!

How are you doing, are you sticking to your plan?

This month is a busy time for many people, and it can feel overwhelming trying to be super organised and do everything. With that in mind, my suggestion for this month is one of the following:

πŸ¦‹Something for you..... to take a moment, help you relax, de stress etc. For example this might be going for a massage, practicing mindfulness, yoga, going for a nature walk or just making time to be still and in the moment.

🌍 Try something new.... this could be anything.... but go out of your comfort zone to do something that you might not have before. For example for November I’ve been learning how to disco roller skate 😬

⚑️ A goal, which could be fitness / running related. For example to run 3 times a week, reach for a new PB, climb Mount Everest etc

Of course, you may wish to do ALL of them πŸ¦‹πŸŒβš‘οΈ

The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.

I recommend that you are a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.

I hope you have a great week,

Happy Panthering

Well, I've been frozen and I've let it go. No run, no swim and not an awful lot of yoga (but some! Including very early this morning by candlelight) Have discovered active minutes in a variety of Christmas related activities mind you.

Wild card this week: deep fried Mars Bar. I find a regular* dose keeps me fit

*once a year/every two years.

oh I Love it... how was it? I have never had one? And yoga by candlelight sounds fabulous I am going to try that!!!

This one was faintly underdone so not quite optimally runny, but still very good. (I don't like Mars Bars but I do like them when they are covered in batter and deep fried)

With the yoga you do have to be very sure they are all safe as it completely ruins the effect if things catch fire (this has occurred...)

dangerous yoga!!!!

Spending most of the time trying to dodge the puddles, by the light of my headtorch. Will it ever stop raining? Do you find you are slower in the dark?

Let off some steam by dancing the night away at a Christmas party - sadly not quite up to attempting 10k this morning!!

dancing sounds fun! My running is always pretty gentle anyway ( ie not fast) and I have a headtorch that is brighter than a car lamp so I dont miss a thing on the road!

So far, so good for me..... gym and swim 3 times a week and running 3 times a week is all going to plan however I am getting a little fed up of getting wet when out running! This weeks runs are scheduled in and on Tuesday I am doing gym, swim, aquarobics, kettlercise and then deep water aqua so I will see how that all goes, Friday I am doing water pilates after my gym and swim as I really enjoyed that one :)

Good look everyone :)

That sounds superb, well done for keeping up with all that!!

i've tottered gingerly off the IC this week with a 3.5km and a 4km run. I have a physio visit tomorrow so i'll see how my knee is doing. I've been trying Chi running with a metronome. Oh, it's interesting. The metronome is beeping at 180 steps per minute. I keep thinking I must be getting really tired with all my little steps but I seem to be able to keep going. I had to stop at 4km today to find a loo urgently. It was probably just as well to cut the run short. So hopefully I'll be climbing back up the kms for the remainder of December. And volunteering at park run - BRRRRR.

I havent heard of that before, what is it supposed to do? How was the physio visit? I hope OK, and well done for the runs...

in reply to ju-ju-

It makes for Efficient running apparently. The physio says β€œlisten to your body rather than sticking slavishly to a HM plan”. Ho hum πŸ€”

I think I’ve lost my mojo ju-ju. Need to get it back but I think it’s going to be a long slog. I’ve done half marathons, metric marathons and loads of 10ks. Why can I do? Wishing you a very happy Christmas and a great 2020πŸ₯³πŸ₯³

Got 3 runs despite the freezing weather which I have to avoid where possible. 2 lovely walks, lugging stuff around the garage as we decide what gets recycled and what moves house (mr garmin kindly pointed out this was exercise) struggling with runs though as I cant do below about 3 without severe a pain in hands - yes I have tried everything, currently -3.

Edit - found the solution- double lined thinsulate gloves. The running can continue

yay re gloves, and well done on the runs. Have you thought about those hand warmers that you crack and they heat up?

They are brilliant I use them for skiing but mine are now past it. I have been unable to find reusable ones and dont want the one use ones - trying to cut out one use items. I'll keep looking.

🍏 Trying to complete the Adidas Goodbye Gravity, challenge, of running 40.8K by the 29th December! I have achieved 25:29k so far. (Challenge started on the 4th). Enjoyed a beautiful sunrise over the sea after the rain this morning! That’s my best prize & motivation to get out the door!

Keeping up with chair based exercise class & some fast walking in between my 3 runs every week. All good! Feel alive & the healthiest I have felt in years! πŸ™‚πŸ™ƒπŸ™‚

Currently seeing a physio for various issues. She didn't say stop running. Perhaps I should have asked. I decided not to. Hopefully will be fit to start a marathon plan by the end of January so my HM plan will be the first half of that.

But it's not that post. For this post my quest is recover from injuries and start upping the mileage. Same for January.

I think that is the perfect goal. Take care and I hope it heals soon...

Hello ju-ju- how's the disco roller skating going.

I wanted to run a 10k and I did my first one in the 2nd December and wanted to do a 10k on each Monday of December and I have .

I'm still really amazed that I got to 10k as I thought 5k was my limit. All the help and encouragement on this form is the best 😊

Thats a superb achievement, well done you. My disco roller skating has taken a bit of a back step due to busy life stuff!!!. I will be hoping to go again really soon :)

Seems like a tricky time of year for a lot of us! Of course not so many people have been as silly as me to fall over and bash their face - at least I hope not!

I had to take a week off running because I bashed my knee too, but I'm up and about again now. I'm not so keen on trying to go slow though, I'd rather run as I feel like it for the moment, and I'm actually wondering if running very slowly helped me trip up! So I suppose my Quest has failed, but I don't mind - we learn from our failures!!!

I'm feeling very positive about starting a lot of strength and balance work, and my new marathon training plan, in the new year 😊😊😊

Happy running, Ju and all xxx
