A welcome to Portsmouth

Well nothing to report today, apart from my 31st Parkrun volunteering that is😇. But I thought you might like to see a picture of HMS Prince of Wales coming in to Pompey for the first time this afternoon. Thousands of people along the seafront to give her a welcome. You deserve a picture at least, after all you paid for it! If you zoom in you can see the Ship’s Company all lined up on deck. She’s a big girl folks!

Good photo OGR, yes I can see all the sailers lining the decks on that'boat' 😊

I remember years ago there was a Royal Navy frigate in Rothesay Bay in Scotland way back just a year after I got married, my wife and I took a trip on a small boat to have a look around the frigate, very good, however, the following night the crew of the frigate organised a dance in the town which my wife and I attended, guess what, I hardly danced with her the whole evening, she was dancing with all the sailors on that frigate and I was left on the side just listening to the music, lol, she told me after we got back to our hotel that she had a great time dancing with the sailers and sort of apologised to me for not dancing with her, fortunately, the frigate left the bay for another destination the following day and the next night we went to a dance and she danced with me for the whole evening. 😊

A lovely tale Alan - a ‘bittersweet’ memory! But I’m sure you and your wife went on to dance together for many years after that!

Yes, very impressive, £3 billion and taller than Nelsons column

Great picture! I do envy you living by the sea and how lovely it must be to run down there.

Well done OGR - I was car park marshal at Lakeside and had a few people asking for directions to the park and ride for the 'welcome home'

Ah, leafy Letchworth Garden City (the first of course!). Ma & Pa lived there for 30 odd years so I know it well. Happy running Sybilw!
