Park run and pacing improvement ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well today I went to do my park run and I have listened to my running coach instead of going as fast as I can for 3 laps and burning out at the end I didnโ€™t do that.

My first lap I warmed up at a pace of 9:54

My second lap my pace 9:50

My third lap was 9:17

Average pace was 9:43

And I enjoyed it so much better and I even had plenty in the tank for a sprint at the finish and I got a time of 28:01 not a PB but I didnโ€™t care I was happy with that time and not burned out.

My coach was very happy with me he wasnโ€™t at park run but we message each other as he has been helping me so much and he is a fantastic coach. Iโ€™m loving my running even more now ๐Ÿ˜‰

But I was pushing it all the time even at club so I did move up from intermediate to advanced I did it two times with advanced group but it was to much for me and my coach said I have gone to fast to soon so now Iโ€™m doing as he says and itโ€™s finally sinking in yay and now Iโ€™m back in the intermediate group which Iโ€™m staying in and Iโ€™m going to learn now and my pace will improve with time and miles.

On the 30th November itโ€™s my birthday so Iโ€™m being a tail walker that day as I would love the purple T-shirt as my wife is now a Marshall and a regular volunteer which Iโ€™m so proud of her ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘

Great running Kevtrev! It really sounds as if you and Mrs Kevtrev have caught the bug!

Another good run for you today Kev, that's the first time that you have not got a PB at parkrun, however, you took advice from your coach and probably enjoyed it better despite not having a PB, great that your wife is also a volunteer at parkrun, I am not aware of her actually running at a parkrun.

Perhaps I could do with a coach, I have now ran 10 parkruns, it's getting to the bit that I know my parkrun time before I run it. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜‚

Thank you Alan Iโ€™ve not always had a PB but probably more PB than not. But now Iโ€™m training to improve my pace and distance running and my time will improve.

No my wife only volunteers she doesnโ€™t run she is doing it for the social side of it and great for her mental health.

Well Alan joining a running club or community is the best thing you will ever do trust me on that especially if you want to improve on park run and overall running happy running Alan ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘

Thanks for the reply and advice Kev, I do enjoy running, today I wasn't at a parkrun but reran run 3 of 6 of C25K just to stretch my legs and also to hear Laura once again saying, "congratulations, you are now OFFICIALLY a RUNNER" she can repeat that as much as she wants to, I still have the C25K app on my Smartphone.

I completely agree. Iโ€™ve been living in my town for 18 years now. I know so many more people now in the last 2 years since I started running.

So great to think of you and Mrs KT becoming parkrun regulars. I love this post, you've passed on some great advice you've benefited from, AND you've made people think about the MH benefits of volunteering.

Because as runners we all know how good running can make you feel. We won't all realise that volunteering is good for you too. Great job both of you!

Yes we both love going and I canโ€™t see us not going apart from holidays ๐Ÿ˜‚ and even then I will be doing Eden park run next year. Just being outside even in the cold it gives you something to look forward to and volunteering is good for her she speaks to so many people and everyone thanks her on the way round making friends is hard when you grow up. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
