Hi Skeg ...that is a great time!!! Really it is...and anyway, you said this is your first 10k yes?? Well massive pat on the back from me!! Dont ever worry about times, it's all about enjoying yourself while you're out there 😉
Great job. First 10k runs are always fast as they set a PB! I think that’s an excellent time first time out too... faster than mine was. Very well done.
Congratulations Skeg, that is a great time for your first 10K, yesterday there was a 10K in Scotland, the Great Scottish Run, there were hundreds if not thousands of runner's who had a time slower than your 1.16.57 time.
Dexy5, I have just watched the final of the 5000 (5K) metre race at the World Championships in Doha, it was won in a time of 12.58, by a man from Ethiopia now that's a time that UTS could try and beat at parkrun this Saturday, 😊😊😊
No slowing down for UTS, if he can beat that time of 12.58, he could try and beat the world record time of 12.37 for a 5K, age grading would be off scale. 😊
It sure is! Time is irrelevant. You nailed the best distance of the lot 😃. In my eyes that is 😁. It’s a spring-board to going further. Should you wish to that is
Well done 👍. I hope you can keep making progress and enjoying your running
Well done, that’s quite an achievement. The time isn’t important , you can work to improve your speed but enjoy your victory for now, you’ve done really well x
Congrats! I did my first 10K 2 weeks back with almost same time. However since I'm only a 5K graduate I walked a good bit of the way. Did you do any walking during the run?
Thank you and well done on your 10K. Yes I ran the full amount. Last try a few weeks back was 8.7K in 1 hr then I walked to over the 10K mark. That gave me the confidence to keep running this time.
Well done! I remember my first 10k run, and it was very tough. Believe me, keep it up and in a few months time a 10k will seem a normal distance to run, with anything less feeling like you haven't done enough!
Yes, do it! I started off doing one a month, but now I usually do at least one a week, weather and time permitting (last night's run got cut to 8k due to me being soaked to the skin)
Thanks. Well done on your first HM and school run. Looking back wished I had started at 63, if not sooner. Like many I've the remission in/out demon in my head so hoping a running side effect will be showing it I'm not giving in yet awhile. Hope your shoes have recovered
Lol !! I am in a patch where my times are improving Skeg but they are far from very good; there are some real racehorses on this site! My first 10k time was a bit slower than yours. I got it down to 1:6:14 on Sunday. The big change for me is being challenged by running with other people; I have learned, mainly through Park Run, that I can move a bit faster than I thought. On Sunday I ran the first 4K at a steady speed and then built up pace gradually over the last 6k ( negative splits). There was no finishing sprint. Sure others can give you a better steer.😊
