Advice needed - chafing thighs

Even running in shorts in the height of sweaty summer, have I had this problem until very recently. It seems as I run for longer and longer periods, at usually over 50mins, does this problem arise. And it always happen very suddenly without warning, as if I am starting a fire by rubbing my thighs together: rub vigorously for 50mins to no sign and then VOiLA! Burst into flame.

Anybody else have a solution to this pesky problem?

I know for a fact that dropping a dress size won't help because of the shape of my legs. And longer leggings solves the problem for the colder months. But what about the warmer months and longer distances when shorts are better served? Should I be applying a liberal layer of vaseline? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™m sure Vaseline would work. I use it under the bottom of the zip of my sports bra on longer runs, as I had a chafing issue there too. One of my runs was for 3 hours plus last week and not a sign of any chafage! ๐Ÿ˜€

Now that you mention it, a rash broke out in the middle of my back probably because of the metal clasp chafing against skin. Vaseline/ body glide to the rescue!

Body glide is AMAZING! Liberally applied on my inner thighs all summer long. I don't even batt an eye now when I'm applying it in the parking lot with other people around......runners get it ๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™m glad to know this is not so rare a phenomenon. I guess Iโ€™m a runner now ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yup, yup, and yup! Bodyglide for the win!! It's not cheap but lasts well and takes care of any possible chafing issues. I use it between my toes, small of my back (zipped pocket rubs), bottom of sports bra, inside arms with tank tops and weirdly started having issues with my belly button in the really hot weather... all solved with BG ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜

My sudden onset guttate psoriasis is worsening, sadly, so before going to Holland the other day I went to town for Body Glide. I thought Boots would have it or SportsDirect, but no such luck. I got Lanacane anti chafe gel. Itโ€™s very nice but ยฃ6 for 28g โ˜น๏ธ I went to Asda and got a big tube of Liquid Talc for 87p. It smells gorgeous but you have to let it dry or you get powdery marks on your running tights. It comes off though Itโ€™s in the baby section. The assistant says itโ€™s been flying off the shelves and they canโ€™t sell enough of it. It was featured in Runnerโ€™s World

I find shorts bunch up and I do get chafing in skirts (not even running skirts) so I have summer weight, vented capris from Decathlon. No riding up, no chafing and really not too hot!

Being male, my chaffing issues are slightly different, but body glide is a definite and I also mid-thigh running trunks for under my shorts provide support and stop rubbing. Under Armour do good running underwear (as their name suggests).
