Rucksack running and light waterproof warm clothes

As I don't drive I'm thinking of running circa 10K of my out of city hikes. Ending up about 2 hours from home. So is it feasible to run 10K with a small rucksack? If so what clothes for after run being waterproof, warm and light. For health reasons definitely need water, min 600ml and a bite. Ideally all fitting into 6l rucksack. I've read somewhere rucksack must tie in front at top and bottom to stop it moving. I've searched this site and read of vests with pockets but still need space for clothes.

Thank you. All info is useful. Taking hols into account I'm expecting to have run three 10K by early October. Fit enough for rucksack running?

I usually run with a rucksack (think it is around 20-26l). I don't generally have clothes in there on a run (since I don't care about getting wet if I'm running) but I think the kitchen sink probably is if only I could find it under the other stuff. Just a chest strap and adjusting the shoulder straps is sufficient.

Thanks. I was thinking quite a small one. However I've got two rucksacks with chest strap used for walking/ hiking. The smaller one of those might do for a try then. I don't mind being soaked in rain and sweat but it might not go down well with fellow bus/train passengers 🙂 My waterproofs are too heavy to lug for 10K though so will look around for lighter ones.

I run and shop a lot! I have a car but hardly ever use it, preferring to run errands. I use a cyclist rucksack. It was cheap but still looks fine and has lots of compartments It doesn’t move. I got a running rucksack from Lidl as well but prefer their cycling one Not waterproof though but for the price I can’t moan. I got drenched the other day but my Shopping was ok. If I need a dry top I put it in a bag inside the rucksack

I crammed that much shopping in it the other day that I thought I’d broken the zip I used the old pencil trick, rubbed the zip up and down a few times and it was good to go again. If I buy too much I have to walk home, so I try and keep it to a minimum so I can run home. It’s 8k 🙂

I often do my planned run then shop, which sometimes means I have to go a bit further, but all grist to the mill

Going out on the trails with a picnic in your rucksack is good fun

You could buy a proper pack but they can be outrageously expensive. Someone recommended one on here recently that they bought on Amazon and it looked good. Decathlon has some as well and theirs are affordable 👍
