I did a nice pootle along the river Thames, took way too many photos, and pootled back.
It was nice for my first 2.5k + 2.5k outside. I stopped half way to do a few stretches (I don't do much running outside and my legs were feeling the difference) and contemplate life.
I realised that there may be many rivers I have walked beside or crossed but this grey, muddy, working river, that smells of the sea, is my river. The seagulls calling and fighting, the barges, the cranes, all feel like home.
It was nice, I needed it. It's been a hard few years one way or another and just sitting on a bench in front of West India Dock made it all feel a bit better...weird how that works lol.

What happened to the blue sky? Still grey skies are better for running in - much cooler. It’s lovely how running opens up opportunities to see things in a different light.
Wow...this sounds wonderful...like a smell that takes you back to being 5...all safe and warm. I feel all. warm.reading your post...nothing beats 'going home' x
LONDON BABY! 💗 Great post B, so you've arrived in England! 🎇🎆🎉🎊 Look at that sky! 😍 Perfect miserable running weather! Cool picture.
You should have seen the storm that just swept through west London! Sideways rain and high winds. I was soaked to the skin and my umbrella got immediately smashed.
I had a similar contemplative experience going up kinder scout for the first time in years on a visit from down south... that hill kept calling me until I came back home 🤣
Enjoy the rest of your home tourism and some similar great runs.
