Saw these lovely sunflowers on my route today. So bright and cheerful - yellow is my favourite colour.
Set off this morning about 8, a bit later than usual and sun was already warm but luckily there was a cooling sea breeze 😊Passing the local recreation ground I saw lots of activity as folk set up for the fete. Then we continued our warm up walk along the cliff, down in to the town, past the heritage railway station and to the beginning of the old railway track where I let Squiggy off the lead and set off at a slow pace. I didn't have a plan, maybe do 5 or 6k. I quite like running without the pressure of having to achieve a certain distance. Squiggy was enjoying trotting along at his own pace, chasing the odd wood pigeon who dared to sit in the middle of the track! I kept a steady but slow pace, feeling good. Decided to keep going into the next village, under the railway bridge and onto a newly made cycling route where I saw these beautiful flowers 😊 At the end of the new track I turned around and retraced my steps, upping the pace just a bit. Back under the bridge, past the recreation ground - look out 🐇🐇🐇short lead!! Continued to retrace my steps running all the way back home and after lots of stretches a nice cuppa!
What an enjoyable 10k Sunday morning run - lovely sunshine, cooling breeze, trees for shade and a river for a quick cooling dip (🐶 not me!).

Most of my runs are on what used to be old railway lines but is now tarmacced over for pedestrians and bikes. They follow the river and it’s 10 miles there and back one way to Braunton, which is my usual run but apparently it’s a figure-of-8 Trail, centring around Barnstaple and about 180 miles in total.
Old railway lines are great! The first part of my run is along an old line but has been left more natural so a trail really. Heritage steam train line on one side and river on the other - lovely 😊Your route sounds great too

Thank you OldFloss 😊Yes, it was a very enjoyable run and lovely views. The rabbits are quite quick unlike the pigeons who tease him and fly at the last second!

The best runs are the ones where there is no pressure.... and this proved to be a really good one. Squiggy got a paddle too so he must be a happy dog! 🐶😊xxx
Yes, it is nice to just go with the flow and see how I am feeling as I run. Today I could have run a bit further but did have a little niggle in my calf near the end. Lots of stretches sorted it out.
As stephen said, squiggy is a great name for a dog. My dogs names seem to evolve too. Their real names are Scala Rossa and Rearguard Indy. Shortened to Rosie and Indy. But sometimes lengthened to Speedy Gonzales and Rosita (you know the song Speedy Gonzales ? ). Seems somehow appropriate for greyhounds lol. Luckily they answer to anything and everything
😂 Speedy definitely sounds right for a greyhound!! Do you run with them? I have heard that greyhounds just run around madly for a short while and then sleep!
No I czn't run with them unfortunately. Firstly because my youngest dog had a stroke. She can now walk and gently trot but not run faster yet (possibly a consequence of her running days before I adopted them) and also because you are right, all speed and no endurance. While I could probably "c25k" them into endurance, most of the walks are concentrated around Rosie's physiotherapy (hills, stairs, short jogs etc.). We'll see once/if she is fully recovered.
