You could join a local running club. They probably turn up at your parkruns.

Have you started building one longer run a week? As your distance grows your 5K pace will get quicker.

Long becomes the new short.

Fast becomes the new slow.

Patience and perseverance.

Yeah, I do 3 different runs over the week, I just can't seen to get any faster. I do the park run each week and staying roughly the same each time.

Stick with it. It will happen.

You have to run fast to run fast. The body is complex, if you keep running at the same speed, the body sets itself to that speed. Sprinting/intervals/fartlek changes that. If you have 3 runs a week:

1. One run should be a long run, this is an 'easy pace' run, it will improve your running mentality and stamina. If you want to improve parkrun, build up to 10k.

2. One run should be either Sprinting/intervals/fartlek. This will improve your speed. There are loads of examples on the internet.

3. One run should be a tempo/race run. This can be Parkrun.

Do this and your speed will improve, but more importantly you'll be a better all-round runner. Oh... and strength training as well. Good luck.

I started on the 10K plan over on Bridge to 10k and just knocked 4 minutes off my 45 minute 5K pace. The long slower runs have helped me improve the shorter runs. Also any core strengthening will help

I'm doing core workouts now along side my running, trying to tone up a little more. I'll keep plodding on. Who knows one day I might break the 40 minute barrier!!

Yes, my fastest is currently 40 mins 45 seconds, I would love to dip under 40 mins for now (I really want to get under 30 mins, but it will take me some time)

30 minutes is a dream at the minute. 40 mins is more like reality lol

Hi! Just spotted your post and wondered how your Parkrun is going. I run at Willen & can’t seem to improve much even though I’ve been a few times this year. I even did Rushmere (a very hilly one) to try and make my regular Parkrun seem easier, but demoralised myself a bit.
