Feelling happy. Having lost btn 4 & 5 stone over the last couple of years or so, through excersize and diet i decided to have a go at running, in an attempt to heighten my level of fitness and to try to melt some more fat off which i am now struggling with. Started the C25K app earlier this year the end test being taking part in a Parkrun. That achieved & onto the 5-10k app which i completed on Saturday. I am almost 59 yrs and didn’t think i could run. I have overcome the breathing and am battling two niggling achillees and one right knee. I always excersize fasted as i perform best that way. I set off from the campsite i was stopping, at Thirlmere in the Lake District intending to run 3.1miles turn around and run back (6.2m or 10k). I had no fluids or fuel with me as i thought just over an hour and I would be done, (I had read fluids not needed for runs less than an hour). I took it steady and at 3.1m I had decided to carry on!!! Well what a run, i did the full circuit of the lake, 10.68 miles (17 KM) and felt like i could have gone further but worried about agravating my inuries too much. Just wish i could stick to good eating habits and stop binge eating ! 😫 Day 1 done today of 21K app, roll on ! 🙂
Final run on 10k app. : Feelling happy. Having... - Bridge to 10K
Final run on 10k app.
Well done! 17k on no water is a bit naughty so don't do it again! Take a goodly snack too as if your legs go you feel awful. A quick snack gives you a boost to keep going, sugar levels recalibrated sorta thing. I make my own to a recipe posted on here. Peanut power bars. They are fab!
I think running regularly, and wanting to stay fit so that you can do so, focuses the mind. I hope it's true in your case and you can get to grips with your eating and keep it under control.
Good luck !
Wow! That is quite the run! Brilliant work. 👏👏👏 And well done on your weight loss too!
I take water on 10k runs. In fact, on a hot day I sometimes take water on any run above 5k. I think it is daft when people advise that you don’t need to take water on anything below a 10k - we are all different! I am a very thirsty runner because I sweat a lot so definitely need water on a 10k! It’s all about what works for you and your body. 👍
Must be very lovely running in the Lake District! Happy running to you!
