Running for Real with Tina Muir - Ep 116 with physio Brad Beer.

The most positive, sane thing I have listened to regarding injury and running. ๐Ÿ˜ Highly recommended.

You are most welcome. :-) I also follow Brad Beer on Instagram, and he is a very sound guy and says some very sensible, and heartening, things about injuries and runners. ๐Ÿ‘

Really interesting. Thinking back I have run into injury problems at three points since I started almost a year ago. After 7 weeks it was calves...calf raises and proper running shoes did the trick. After 10k, calves were the problem again..I think as a result of the additional distance and pace being too much for my strength level. Answer..physio and more intensive calf strengthening regime. Latest problem..hamstring as a result of getting into intervals...sprinting...thighs and bum not strong enough for new loads. Answer is more intensive strength training required for those areas. A few years ago I moved from gym to swimming as a more enjoyable way to exercise...think the gym needs further visits!! Thanks for the post, the podcast make a lot of sense. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Oh I am so glad it was helpful/interesting to you. It always comes back to strength training, it seemsโ€ฆI was so resistant to it when I first started running, but now running is so important to me, I am willing to put in the work to keep myself running. My physiotherapist tactfully mentioned to me that "more mature" runners such as myself (I am 47, never really think of myself as "mature" but I guess I am!), really must focus on strength training in order to avoid injury. x

Welcome, roseabi. xxx

And it has only taken me 19 months of running for this message to really get through to me! Doh! But I am all over it now. :-) Monster walking as i type ๐Ÿ˜‚(NOT REALLY: that would be dangerous).
