My first parkrun today...

And second run in fab new Mizuno shoes. Sunny with a cold breeze. I estimated 500 runners. Apparently 556! I came 452nd with a time of 34.38. Everyone started so fast! But then at least I had space to run my own way. Saw people I knew. Would definitely do it again. Very much worth getting up for (I'm not a morning person!) Phone, however, has been overestimating how far I've been running. It said I ran 6k not 5. I still have a way to go but loving the journey.

Well done to you Rowers, there must indeed have been plenty of fast runners at that parkrun today, you ran a sub 35 minute 5K but dispite that fast time you were well down the field, I have been looking at other parkrun times, if you had ran at one of them you would have been just a little slower than the average runner, perhaps that particular parkrun you were at today consisted of elete club runners from various local athletic clubs and not so many running with dogs and prams, although no doubt there was a bit of those as well.

Great job on your first parkrun, and I assume first time running with hundreds of others. Very decent time first time out there too.

Are you using a tracker for distance on the phone or the inbuilt health app? I’ve tracked my distance with Strava, MapMyWalk and Nike Run Club and all have reported back 3.11 miles at parkrun... my health app doesn’t use gps (phone battery life would be awful if it did) so it’s guessing based on steps taken, unless it’s being supported by a tracking app.

Just the inbuilt health app. Clearly need something better!

Need is a strong word... we all used to run without any tracking! A good tracker can help with training though, and explain why a run was tough at the end as you can see your paces per mile/km... you can also learn to run to a pace using voice updates for pace either by distance or time.
