Well Runners!

I know I’ve done a bit of a disappearing act and it’s been in more ways than one. But after some serious contemplating over the weekend, I grabbed fear in one 🀚🏽 and hope in the other 🀚🏽 and took action. There was no better way to free my mind than to go out for a run. A β€œThank You Run”!

I wasn’t feeling that thankful, I have to admit, but I reminded myself that there’s always something to be thankful for. I was at the very least, thankful that I went out in my lightweight jacket with vest underneath and not the hoodie and long top I had set out last night. The jacket was tied around the waist within 5 minutes! πŸ˜‚ What a beautiful day.

I feel ok (not the usual high) but I am proud of myself all the same. I will try my best to get back out there after a rest day. ❀️

Hi Equi!! Yes I was in Lydiard Park today. Nice quiet day with the sunshine on my back. A bit hot in those open bits, but I wasn’t in any hurry. Just taking it one step at a time. πŸ€—β€οΈ

Am heading out there with the dog in a short while. No running for me at the moment after irritating the arthritic hip. So I am dieting like mad instead and either volunteering or walking at the back at Parkrun, and hoping the weight loss will make up for the reducing fitness 🀣. I’m allowed to do the triathlon on the 12th if I don’t run before the actual race. Knocked me back a bit, I can’t really get into cycling with the same discipline as running, and it’s scarier πŸ˜³πŸ€— Think I should stick with slow and steady from now on anyway πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

Fabulous450 profile image
Fabulous450Graduate10 in reply to Equi-geek

Ah Equi, I haven't been around much and didn't realise. The triathlon sounds amazing and many of us (me) would like to lose a few pounds πŸ˜‰.

Hey Equi, one thing for sure is that there can be one or two obstacles that come along in life that we don't plan for and definitely do not want, but big kudos to you and everyone, who keeps finding the will and adjust so we can carry on doing what we love to do! The 12th is not too far way. Maybe I will see you at my next Parkrun too. πŸ€—β€οΈ

πŸ‘‹ nice to see you back again πŸ‘

I think (and obviously this may not be possible for you) that it really helps to have a timetable; stuck on the fridge or in your mobile (depending on your Luddite tendencies), to run x number of times a week at y time, and to stick to it religiously! No excuses, running is number one priority (for those set times).

Chores can wait. Kids can sometimes do without a home cooked meal, colleagues can sometimes be told to wait, and friends can sometimes be seen in groups.

This is your time and Fab; it’s time to take itπŸƒπŸΎβ€β™€οΈ

πŸ‘‹πŸ½πŸ‘‹πŸ½πŸ‘‹πŸ½! I totally agree. Thank you so much!

I signed up for a Move for Mind Challenge 13-19th May yesterday. You can do any kind of movement, but that’s a run every day that week for me. And I’ll get a bit of bling for completing! 🀩🀩🀩

It’s coming up to my graduation runniversary (and birthday in July) and I’m going to be out on my birthday run, no matter what. That would be my original mission complete and I’m doing it!! πŸ’ͺ🏽❀️❀️

Ah JoJo, such lovely kind words πŸ€—. Yes the gremlins sure did move in (the squatters! 😐). But they're not welcome to stay. I'm finding my feet, but I'm keeping a very important promise to myself. Graduation anniversary is so close now. I can't wait for what I'm sure will be an epic run. ❀️

Well well well my little 10k twin πŸ€— How spooky is that ~ after also going AWOL on and off for the past couple of months, I too shoved myself out there today ... perhaps there was something in the air πŸ€— kudos to you for doing a 5k stretch Fabz πŸ‘Š I feel so unconditioned I'm like I was in the very early days of C25K ~ really struggling physically and mentally - fingers crossed I don't pay for it too much in the hip department 😳 Well done Fabz, good to see you back πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ¦‹

Fabulous450 profile image
Fabulous450Graduate10 in reply to Flaraflarkin

Ah we sure are twins Flar! β€οΈπŸ¦‹ I am so, so pleased you are back out there too 😁. I did a timed run on my App and stopped twice to tie my shoelaces, which provided a big temptation to stop twice, but it was a "thank you run" that was for the benefit of letting go of what was not right, but celebrating what is. If I felt I had got to that place at any time during the run, I would have felt ok to stop. At the start, I certainly didn't think I would make it to the 45 minutes, but liked the sound of the run. Coincidentally it was 5k by the time the 45 minutes was up. I felt pretty heavy today, but I did find enough of my "out there don't care"! I hope we continue to do that too. We know we can do this! πŸ€—πŸ€—β€οΈ

Thank you so much Sandie. I guess you know things are not right when everything you love to do is not being done. So today I was taking my life back in more ways than one and hoping to be feeling absolutely fabulous again soon. ❀️

Hey, well done! So pleased you got back out there. Try and remember the highs and positives from when you started this time last year. It seriously is (for me) mind over matter and being strict with my 3 runs a week, no excuses (except injury which is legit). I always come back feeling physically and mentally better than before I went out. Just keep running (aka Dory) πŸƒπŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ πŸ˜˜

Lovely to see you back again Fabulous, we do miss our VRBs when they disappear but understand that people have lives outside running and sometimes other things take priority. Do take care and let us know how you are getting on.

Fabulous450 profile image
Fabulous450Graduate10 in reply to Dexy5

Thank you so much Dexy! It's lovely to be back and I haven't forgotten my VRBs. It's difficult to feel that you have a contribution to make when you're not running and the longer it goes on, the more of a challenge it seems to be to get back out there. So I'm every so grateful for the warm welcome and understanding. πŸ€—β€οΈ

Thanks Shakeywakey. I think so too. I will have to prepare my mind for the winter gremlins.
