2 years since I started

I started my C25K journey 2 years ago after several failed attempts. Since then I have stayed running in between breaks on the injury couch and laziness, but I kept coming back. But since January I have dialed it up and started interval training. I have lost 2 stone in weight and 6 minutes off my Parkrun time. I’m now increasing my 2 midweek runs to 7K and then Parkrun on Saturday. I don’t even know who I am anymore. All thanks to C25K. I’m going to be turning 45 in a month and I am fitter and healthier now than I was 20 years ago. It’s been amazing. I’m going to take a break this weekend from Parkrun and attempt a sub 1 hour 10K.

How does a couch potato end up like this? Running has become a way of life now, I love it. Looking forward to going back to 10K. My last 10K took 75 minutes.

Such a great post Damien! I love that your son has become a part of your running life too, taking part in the parkruns. You're such a great role model for him.

Ah thank you so much. Yes it’s become our thing now to do a Parkrun together. He should be getting his milestone 10th T-Shirt in the next week or 2. I can’t wait to run alongside him as he wears it.

I think it shows terrific determination to try and retry. It shows that when you (me, anyone) has the ‘I’ll try again’ approach to running, eventually determination lets you (me, all) achieve it. There are huge lessons to be learnt from your share- just keep attempting, eventually you’ll do it!!

Fantastic!! Well done!!

Happy Birthday too (soon)

Thank you for sharing. Terrific story and terrific journey!!

Thank you so much. Yes it takes time. And a lot of hard work. But it’s great to see the pay off as times come down and runs become enjoyable. I catch myself lately at my local Parkrun running along side someone I recognize and I think to myself, they are a really good runner, I find it hard to believe that I can hold pace with them.
