April quest to run further this month than previous (80k in March), find room in cabin size suitcase for trainers so can still run while on holiday and get well prepared for two 10k events coming up in May..... Happy run questing everyone!

March Quest went well and I’ve now completed W5 of juju’s plan mk2.

April’s quest is to continue to get back to 10k for the Patron Saints run on 23 April.

On 13 April UpTheStanley and I hope to be joining Kat family and other VRBs at Southampton Common parkrun, which will be our biggest parkrun to date - highest attendance 1295 😬

Loving the warmer weather and reduction in wind speed this week.

Keep up the running everyone 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Just realised I’m a bit premature with April’s targets 🤔

My quest changed in March and i decided not to sign up for any more road races. (I have signed up for a 10km race in May in a castle grounds, an 8km on a causeway for my birthday and a 5km which is along the banks of a river). I'm planning to run on only trails - river and forest tracks. My knees and my serenity thank me for this. I am mulling over a quest to run once a week without watch/phone so I'll have no idea of pace, time and distance (more or less as I know my running routes). Going to try this today to go out of March with a silent swoosh.

I think this sounds brilliant Paula, just doing the kind of running that makes you happiest.

I also love your idea of running without tech once a week...silently swooshing, just because...😊xx

Hope you are over your sinus thing😘

in reply to Bluebirdrunner

It was a strange experience BB. I stopped a lot, walked a bit, stood in the sun a bit, looked at the trees. I don't know why as I wasn't particularly tired or injured. I tried new paths and trails. So all in all, it was an exploration and I think I was out for an hour even though i'm sure I only ran/walked 5km. I definitely have to battle the gremlins without technology but I think I can defeat them by saying "it's once a week OK, I can enjoy this"

Good luck with the trail running.

That sounds absolutely blissful! A silent swoosh 😻. It will probably get easier the more you do it but we get so ingrained into thinking a run doesn’t happen if there isn’t “proof” so what a great quest and will hopefully provide the needed serenity. Enjoy your trails!

Boom. March Quest completed totally by surprise (it wasn’t even meant to be March - any month this year would have done), and I ran sub 35 at parkrun yesterday. Now for sub 34 ..... 😱😳

Thank you for hosting this Quest Floss, with such a busy month building up to your HM on 24th... which you totally nailed! 💪😊

Meeting you, and watching you head off on your HM adventure was so surreal and exciting. The event was buzzing with all ages, shapes and sizes. Smiling, friendly people all getting behind the brave runners with cheers and clapping.

I had a super time and enjoyed every minute. Standing in the sunshine with Sandie1961, when you and Paul and Matt appeared and watching you push for that finish line was wonderful. I am so proud of you. You are awesome. Even at the end of your run, still applauding others as they finished and making sure Paul's partner didn't miss out on our group celebrations... such a lovely, kind and humble person. 😙 I think I was a little bit star struck😆....

My Quest this month didn't start well, as I had sinus problems, but has finished with me back to where I was at the end of Feb. Thank you fellow Questers for your support and encouragement... and I'm feeling very positive going into April.

😊xxx

You are on the way now to great things and it is so good that you are feeling so much better and enjoying your running so much too...Watch for the new Quest tomorrow!

Completed weeks 5-8 of my HM training. I’m enjoying the runs now that I understand the plan better.

As an extra treat had 3 days of glorious sunny skiing this week. What a treat. ⛷☀️

Back to my triple goals for April - long slow run up to 12k again, race pace run of 10k (hopefully the St George’s Day 10k in 55 mins), and maintain 13 kph on the dreadmill for 1k as part of a shortish run.

Hopefully I’ll manage to knock off one a week - onwards and upwards 😀

I did ok up until this last week where there were too many work and life commitments and now I’ve come down with a doozy of a cold. But I am pleased to have gotten back on track running and getting outside into the much-needed sun again. I’ll be taking a little breather to get over this cold and then will carry on with my HM plan with the goal to run a HM distance by the end of April 🤞

in reply to SaskAlliecat

Take it easy Saskie, rest up and be kind to yourself. You'll be back outside plodding those trails in no time. Your body will thank you for it.

Well Floss, my plan for March went a bit awry as I gave up trying to increment my 10k runs by 1k a week and just went hell for leather and did 10 miles anyway. Probably not the best idea for the joints but boy did it feel good mentally for the rest of the week. It spurred me on this weekend to break my 5k and 10k PBs yesterday and today respectively. I definitely feel prepared for doing a 60 minute 10k next Sunday at the Regency Run 10k 🤞and I also know I am capable of doing a HM one day (who’d have thought!!).

Time to get my thinking cap on for April and give my knees a rest for the next few days...🤔

Happy running you wonderful people!

in reply to TailChaser

well done. I'm impressed! Look after your knees this week.

I will hopefully continue to run 5k twice a week and one longer run of hopefully 10k and continue to do Parkrun 🏃🏼‍♀️ at the beginning of May I move up an age group at Parkrun so will get a good position for my age group because the last time I looked there were only about 11 people in that category 😂😂👍🏻

in reply to Bridget007

Oooh 😮 10km run every week. I’d find that tough. The advantage of growing older - moving up the rankings 😉.

Bridget007 profile image
Bridget007 in reply to

Oh I thought that was what I was supposed to do no wonder I was finding it hard 😂 I might cut back to a shorter “long” run 😊😊 thank you I feel like a weight has been lifted!

in reply to Bridget007

My long comfortable ish run is 8km. I aspire to making 10km my relaxing long run but I’m not there yet 😊

Me either really I was struggling and you look way fitter than me 😊😊

I enjoy a 10K on a Sunday:) A great distance to relax into :)

I found the advantages of getting older when I got a surprise trophy in the post on Friday, for being 1st female Veteran (65 age group) at the HM :)

Every cloud ??? x

Oooh 😲 nice 🏆 🕺you’re a running machine, you are

All targets ticked

Goal 5k reached 6k

Continue Running 30 mins, reached 44 mins for last run in month

Really enjoying running twice a week, would love to do three, but tried that and just too much with having to take pups out for a decent walk in the afternoon following a morning run. My two boys just cannot understand that if they come running with me then they really don’t need a long pm walk 🤔🙄

Hi Oldfloss, March quest to run at least twice a week achieved. I’m still not quite back to 5K in under 35 but not far off. April’s Action for Happiness Calendar is Active April. Today’s goal is commit to being active every day! It’s a fabulous calendar and a wonderful website for putting life into perspective, would recommend to all. Anyway April’s quest is to complete Juju’s 10K plan. Got a 20K end of May.

Can I just check your comment about naked running is technology not clothes free!! 😄😂🤪

March quest achieved 😊. I managed to Run 7k. So April the quest will be to continue onto 8k. Little increments but I will get to 10k by June I hope. Provided I can cope with running in the heat 🥵🏃🏻‍♀️ .

Enjoy April everyone.
