And definitely not my last! I loved it! I know, I know you all said I would 🀣🀣🀣

I can’t believe I have been babbling on about doing a parkrun for at least 5 years and got my barcode about 2 years ago and finally... today... after being so nervous for days ... I did it!!!

What I was so nervous about I don’t know!

I can’t wait for next Saturday πŸ˜ƒπŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜ƒπŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ

Happy running everyone πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

Fantastic Bridget!! πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½! It’s a big eye-opener isn’t it! Lovely people all different ages and capabilities in one place just enjoying a run! Don’t know who thought of it, but it sure was genius! Glad you enjoyed it!! 😁😁❀️

Thank you 😊 it really is an eye opener. So many lovely people with so many different running styles! Yes whoever thought of it deserves a medal ... when you think how many people all over the world are doing a parkrun!! πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

Great news! 🍾πŸ₯‚πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜ŠπŸŽ‰πŸ‘β˜€οΈ πŸ’₯⚑️ πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ After 5 years that was a massive hurdle to leap. Definitely worth celebrating! How many runners at your parkrun? Flat or hilly? And does it take long to get there from your house? Sorry for all the questions! Oh one more! Did you run at the pace you meant to or did the other runners encourage you to run faster than you thought you would? Brilliant! Well done you! Says she from the ic! πŸ™‚πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Thank you 😊 There were about 400 runners! It is a bit hilly but what makes it a bit harder is it is run on wood chipping, or through woods and then about a fifth on pavement so it gives your legs a workout πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ and it is only about a 5 minute drive from my house 🏠 I think I literally only have one speed so I didn’t break any records but I was very warm at the end πŸ˜… how is your hamstring feeling today?

over61andstilltryingGraduate10 in reply to Bridget007

Thank you for your concern. It's not right. I'm aware of it not being right even when just walking, but it is miles better than it was.

Make sure you keep it rested frustrating as it is πŸ˜•

in reply to over61andstilltrying

Glad to hear that it’s much better even if it’s still not right 61+

Hmm.... but I am more than a week away from running as I have decided that once I am pain free, I shall still leave it a week before running because of how the strain recurred to readily last time. πŸ˜’πŸ˜” At least I can enjoy reading about my VRBs

It feels like it’s taking forever but before you know it you’ll be back to running! You take care and I’m sure once you’re back you will soon pick up where you left off. Your legs will soon remember that you are a runner πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I am quite sure that I will take it very, very slowly this time. Less distance and very slow. Someone on here said it took them 9 months after their hamstring injury to reach a sub 30 minute 5k again. Ah well patience and perseverance are also good things to develop. I had my eye on 28:30 for my runniversry parkrun! That would have been something, perhaps next year!

Bought a cello yet?

over61andstilltrying profile image
over61andstilltryingGraduate10 in reply to BaddieThePirate

No, no cello I don't actually have to park myself on the couch so am gardening (when not responding to forum posts) within the limitations placed on me by my hamstring.

Hope you're better soon. In the meantime I hope the weather holds for gardening

Yay, I knew you’d love it! Now you’ve done the first one, you’ll be bitten by the bug and want to go every week. Volunteering is a great way of meeting people and giving back too. Just enjoy the running first though.

Oh that's great to read Bridget. So glad you loved it. It doesn't sound TOO easy - 400 runners, hills, wood chips, but you did it! Look at you ;)

Bridget that’s fantastic! πŸ‘πŸ‘ Isn’t PR amazing? I’m so happy you had a good time! I hope you found everyone friendly! I recommend having a go at volunteering one week too. It gives you a chance to chat to fellow volunteers and also the runners. It’s a fabulous feeling of camaraderie. β€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Welcome to the addictive world of parkrun! Aren't they just the best events? Plus a wonderful motivation to improve your running time and technique.πŸ˜πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

One of the few things to get me up early on a Sat morning. Unfortunately a flat car battery meant no parkrun for me yesterday and I could have enjoyed a lie in! 😒

Oh no how disappointing πŸš— πŸ˜• and yes they are brilliant I can’t believe how long it took me to give it a go 😊
