Morning everyone. I hope your running is going well. I am slightly benched right now due to having an epic run last Wednesday and then coming down with a chest infection and a temperature since 😳.

Let’s us know how you are coping with this changeable weather. It is hard to know what to put on.

Happy running to you all

Thanks, I pushed a little too hard on Wednesday I got a 5km training PB, in hindsight maybe shouldn’t of pushed it as it was only supposed to be 4.5km run, but you know those runs that just feel great. 😀.

Oh yes 😊

Oh poor you RFC. Take care of yourself. After a long, hilly run yesterday, I'm planning a 5km recovery run and an intervals run this week. And another hilly run next weekend I hope. Maybe not so long as I have a 10km road race on November 18th.

Yep.... Totally. Still not used to it! End up still running in capris and t shirt. Hope you feeling better

I have taken the plunge and signed up today to my local running club. I went out yesterday with a 69 year old and a 73 year old. Both showed me a clean pair of heels so I have a bit of work to do.

Well done SlowLoris, and love your new photo too.

Oh sounds like fun. I have a few friends that swear joining a running club is one of the single most things that has helped their running.

Definitely useful if you want to work on pace. At the moment nearly all their runs are a bit too long distance for me. Even their slow group does 8 miles or so on a Sunday morning which is out of my league(s). The intervals are good though. Subs are very reasonable as well.

Funnily, my pace for 800m intervals day before yesterday is the same I did all of C25K at. No wonder it was hard. That was before I had my slow running epiphany and changed my user name.

Oh no, I hope you feel better soon..... I have a handy thermometer in the kitchen.

Above 5: shorts

Below 5: Long trousers

Below 0: add on woolly hat and gloves!!!

Thank you Ju, finally getting there. Wow you wear shorts in some cold weather. I have heard it actually good for you but I am a complete wuss when it comes to the cold.

I hope you feel better soon.

My shorts are not likely to come out until late spring! I’m running in leggings now and long sleeve top. Sometimes my running jacket as a windbreaker. I have a warmer top for when it gets colder and have my new running gloves. I probably need some warmer leggings for later. It’s all new to me now as I’ve done most of my runs in the warm.

Thank you, nearly there now. I can’t do shorts unless it’s 30 degrees, I am such a lightweight 😀. Layers are the answer if you are unsure. I go for things with zips on the top so they are easy to get off and tie round my waist mid run, also pockets to put my gloves in when I don’t need them any more.

Hi RFC...sorry to hear you’re not too good, hopefully it won’t last long. My runs have slipped behind a bit due to the odd niggle & kids half term, planned run yesterday scuppered because of car trouble (grrrrr) but this morning I am back on it...who knows what I will run today when I’ve dropped the kids off coz I feel like a tightly wound spring ready to go...the weather hasn’t really bothered me yet, I did park run on sat in long pants & long sleeves but could’ve prob done with short everything coz I was like a boiled egg at the end....didn’t break any records but I enjoyed it as I haven’t done parkrun for yonks x

P.s...I feel like I’ve neglected the forum too with kids being off but I’m back now 😉

I’m on the mend thank you. It is good to get out there and feel like your blowing off the cobwebs isn’t it. 😀

So sorry to hear that RFC, get well soon! Glad the run was epic though :)

Me? I'm contemplating distances at the moment. I really struggled with a 2.5k run on Sunday, I've avoided running this week due to a) time and b) I hate running in both dark and rain, but I shall be out on Friday. My plan for the winter is to aim for 3 runs per week, but not get too stressed if I can only manage 2. 2 runs is way better than no runs, which is the exact number I used to do :D

Distance wise, I'm trying to decide whether to try to push up to 15k soon. I really really enjoyed the 13k I did recently, and I have a lovely new longer route I'm itching to try out... I'll report back anyway.

p.s. Parents are hopefully buying me a Garmin Forerunner 30 for Christmas!

Thank you. Hehe still think the run was worth it 😀. Your right to do want you can manage, it makes more sense to have your training plan fit in with you. I have so much on that all four of my HM’s have all been trained for only running twice a week.

I'm on the couch with you with a bad knee, so we both need to take care of ourselves! I'll be starting with a 2.5k late next week, and building up from there, depending on how the knee feels. T'interweb tells me a sprained knee can heal in 5-14 days, but it's all about how it feels for me.

I hope you're being wise too, listen to he Dr and take your meds, RFC. That chest infection won't shift itself!

RealfoodieclubGraduate10 in reply to Jundal

Sorry to hear that. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Take it easy, you right to go on how it feels rather than the T’internet. 😉.
