In a quest to get out of an obsession to always do 5k I’ve managed an odd run. 4.72k! I decided to do the stamina 5+ podcast and see how far it takes me and today that was the number. Now just to work on a varied start point. Then a varied stop . . . . 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Did well though as the pace really suits me and my breathing was impressive even if I do say so myself! You see I’m not always so hard on myself. 😃 Today was not only a run but a GOOD run.

What a great idea! I too can get overly hung up on running 5k or 10k exactly every time I go out, but have been slowly breaking that self-imposed rule. I have been doing the speed podcast, which takes me to just over 2.5k - it’s very energising! Good run, Sybilw. 👏👏👏
Thank you. I tried ‘speed’ too and it was great. Over very quickly! Maybe I’ll keep that as a short outing for one of my runs. If I can break the “it has to be 5k or at least 30 min” rule of course!! 😆
I need to do this too!! I’m so hung up on doing 5k and 10k !! Even this morning I intended to just have a nice relaxing slow steady run but then realised I might get a sub 60 min 10k so I pushed myself but still didn’t manage it! So from now on I am going to stop being so competitive with myself and just enjoy the runs!! 😀🏃♀️
Thank you! I’m just so close! Apparently I did it in 53 mins as a young 18 year old my brother told me! I wouldn’t ever match that at aged 54 but I’d like to just get below 60 then I’ll be content!!! 😂
That sounds like a challenge if ever I heard one!! I’m just amazed to be running as I didn’t do it at school - and I left school in 1972!! I’ll look for you posting a sub 60 very soon. 👍🏻
What a good idea! I’m trying to work up to go for a run today and couldn’t work out what to do!! Now having seen your post I’m going for speed 5+ podcast and because I’ve posted here I now have to go - so thank you 😊
Well done! I was going to suggest after your previous post that you run a route and not a distance but you've already broken the spell, so good for you 👏👏🙂
A varied route is difficult when you tend to (actually always 😆) want to start and stop at the same point!! I’ve a lot of changes to make - on the bright side my runs are quite rural so very scenic, peaceful and not busy. I’ll keep my options open. Thanks for your support.
It worked today. Let’s hope I don’t get too hooked on getting further every run. Who am I kidding? - you know it’s a baseline to be challenged!! 😆
What!? And ruin "matched runs" and "fastest 5K/10K". That wouldn't do me, no... 🤣
Stats is half my fun, but I can see the day I put Strava down, as it isn't always healthy!
Just like Sarakc , I knew at 7K that it was likely I'd get a PB and that close to the sub-60. I didn't get it either, it was too late by the time I noticed to shave off just enough, but I was thrilled I got closer...
I am perhaps destined to run circles in car parks for those round digits! ☺
Ha ha! My ‘finishing straight’ is about 500m but I sometime misjudge and have to leave the safety of my secluded path and actually run an emergency few metres beside an actual road 😱. Great time though.
