My 3rd Park Run today - I’ve trying to do one every 4-6 weeks since completing C25K. I would like to go more often but it’s a good 30+ minutes away by car and I don’t often have 2 hours free on a Saturday.

Weather fair if windy, 7 degrees so fairly good conditions. This is my first run for nearly two weeks - I’ve been suffering with a bad back, but worst a tight/sore chest/cough that I can’t shift. 🙄 But I’ve had enough on the sidelines so though I wasn’t feeling great I was determined to give it a try.

Having learnt from my last park run not to try to keep up at the start I started tentatively from the back and tried to keep a steady pace. The ground was muddy and slippery in places; caution was required on the transition from mud to bridge to path, particularly with my dodgy ankles (old ligament injury in the left, more recent Achilles injury in the right! - translates to ‘old crock’).

I made it round with minimal coughing if some wheezing. Nothing spectacular- my slowest park run yet at 29:34 - but I’m glad to have got back out there....... I’ll probably suffer now as I’ve churned up the gunk (sorry!!) but hopefully I might have shifted some of it too!!

Happy running weekend all. 👍😊🏎🏁

Nice that you enjoyed your 3rd parkrun🏃 this morning FormulaRun, I ran 🏃another 5k last Wednesday, there are no parkruns anywhere near to where I live, the nearest is about a 40 minute bus ride, I don't drive, so I just run 5K's locally.

One time I was running 🏃 a 5K and a tune called MARATHON came on the music I was listening to, every time the singer mentioned marathon I shouted back "I'm not running a marathon, I'm running a 5K" 😂 lol

Hi FormulaRun, Well done on your Parkrun. Sub 30 always sounds good to me. Like you there is too much going on to get over to my nearest Parkrun very often, which is also 30 minutes-ish drive from here, so running from my front door, well after a warm up is my usual. I have only run one Parkrun so far but definitely hope to take part in about 4 a year and also I would like to try volunteering too. All the best with your onward running journey. How folk manage with work, family and other commitments through the winter I expect I shall find out as I continue, what seems to have become quite a hobby, 'post reading'!

Thank you. I’ve found it fun to mix in park run with my normal runs - they are chalk & cheese. Home is just me in the hilly countryside. Park Run is 200+ runners in the town and a mainly flat course. It is hard fitting it in though- especially with the short days... I’m not looking forward to the dark mornings & dark nights. I think I’ll be forced to the gym to use the treadmill with an outside run at the weekend. Good luck with your running 😃🏎

Well done! I think 5k sub 30 mins is great. That's my goal... I still have a few minutes to shave off. 😁

Thank you - I was pleased to scrape in under 30 minutes. That’s kind of my regular pace - ish. Somehow I completed the first two park runs very swiftly. Today I was just pleased to be able to complete it! Good luck with your running. 😊🏁🏎

Well done FormulaRun and I would be very happy with your time. Sorry you haven’t been feeling well so you did well to get out today.

Someone said once that running is really good for clearing the tubes but I was continuously trying to clear my throat today.

Thank you Dexy. No feel better for having done it!! I was pleased with the time I wasn’t expecting to come in under 30 minutes this time so I was chuffed when I got the results. Happy running 😋

That’s still a very respectable time, FR, despite your issues! (Many people struggle to do a sub 30 min 5k, even once they are running 10ks.) Well done!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😊❤️

Hope you are feeling fully fit again soon. ❤️❤️

Well done! I’ve registered with Park Run but not yet managed to get to one since completing my C25K.

I’ve still been going out on the road twice a week to keep the running up and try to improve my speed etc

Do have a go at park run when you can. I usually run alone and in the hilly countryside so wasn’t sure what to expect - running with 200 others on a mainly flat course - but I’ve enjoyed mixing it up & it’s a very supportive environment 🙂. Good luck with your running 🏎
