Was supported to get up and out by this mantra when I woke up up this morning. The sun peeking in at the window irritated me - I'd clearly picked the wrong day this week to do my long run (dreary drizzly Thursday rather than today) and my legs were still feeling a bit tired after their Thursday outing.
But today didn't have to be fast did it? I just had to get out there and run - because that's what runners do. So inspired (by the unexpected sun) to change my planned local park route I went a bit further afield so I could slowly stretch those legs over a more rural trail.
It wasn't fast, it wasn't far, but it was so gooooood 😊.

It’s so true! I think the saying to add to that is: take each day as it comes. So glad you had an enjoyable run!
An excellent motto Deb, I must admit I was glad to run in the sun again today, but I was only doing 5k. I can’t believe I said only - in March it would’ve seemed a miracle.
It is amazing I 'only' ran about 4.5k this morning, just a little trip out - but still 1k further than I could run in 30 mins at the end of C25K. Was still joyous though 😊.
All runs are different aren't they? Sometimes those slow, steady runs are just as special as the faster ones or the longer ones - it sounds as though it did you good, especially after a longer run. Happy runnnig. 🙂
Definitely no rhyme or reason - but have to say the sun always helps.
Thanks for the post and the motto. Glad you had a nice run. I was disappointed with a long, slow run today because I stopped a few times. It was on hilly forest trails. I got lost and it was very steep. It took me over an hour to do 8.5km and all I could think was that it doesn’t even count as a run. Blooming heck ! I ran for over an hour and for my longest distance ever. Give myself a break !
I know exactly how you feel. There's a woodland park near me where I sometimes run (it takes about 10 mins to drive there). I could get there on foot from where I live but this would involve a run of about 1k and then a walk up a steep path (I couldn't possibly run up it) and then I could do some lovely woodland running (and I guess run home) but have always avoided it because I don't feel it would be a 'proper' run if I have to walk up that hill!
Sounds silly written down. Will maybe try it sometime soon.
