Hello Runners

Well itโ€™s fair to say I was feeling a little bit lost and without intention joined the B210K! I had lots of encouragement and a warm welcome! Thank you! ๐Ÿ˜!

After lots more thinking, I consulted with the human compass (never fails ๐Ÿ˜‰)! I started this journey never thinking I can run. Look at me running regularly. Thatโ€™s in just 4 months. I also signed up for a charity run in September and it was just a dream to run that race, but I thought Iโ€™d like to at least run some! Well, Iโ€™ve decided not to join JuJu programme right now, but Iโ€™m going to do everything I can to be running all the way in that charity!

So with โ€œback to funโ€ firmly on my mind (its worked well so far), I set out to the park where the race will be. Having done the run with Equi a couple of weeks ago, I knew it was twice round the circuit plus I had my app - everything tracked!๐Ÿ˜‰

โ€œCome On Fabulous450! Weโ€™re going to do 5k todayโ€! And 5.01k I did! In 37 minutes! And I feel epic! Thatโ€™s 6 whole minutes faster than my first parkrun! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ! So a PB and a refocused mind! Weight loss is the big goal now to put the icing on my 50 years celebration cake next year! Thank you for listening to my ramblings of confusion! Iโ€™ve found my way home!! ๐Ÿก ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜โค๏ธ

Good for you. Fun is where itโ€™s at. And to be realistic, it was a little early to go for 10k so soon after completing c25k, but your 5k time is brilliant so you are well on your way x

Yay! I think enjoying your running is definitely the key. For me it's an escape from all the stresses of work and a busy life if it becomes hard work it defeats the object of running in the first place.

Run what makes you happy ๐Ÿ˜Š

Yes Deb it was feeling a bit stressful thinking about whatโ€™s next.....then lightbulb๐Ÿ’กโ€œGirl....just run and have fun, the rest will show upโ€!! And it sure did! โค๏ธ

Well done Fabulous! Youโ€™re right about the rest showing up when it needs to. Stay sound and enjoy the September run :) Iโ€™ve been daft enough to enter something a bit longer so have to push on with that goal as motivation but after October Iโ€™m freeing up a bit and just going to enjoy it for a while ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

lol, no. I was consolidating before I went on hols, managed a 5.5k. Tried for 6k on holiday, that was ok. A week later (last week) did 7k. Going slower and the distance isn't easy, but I'm getting there. 8k tonight (hopefully!)

Good decision Fabulous, not everyone is in a rush to move on. I'm still hanging around between c25k and b210k and quite content to stay there as long as I need to. In fact I may never move on, as long as I am getting out there 3 times a week and enjoying parkrun. Nobody has told me I can't be here , so I think it's still OK to keep up with everyone on this forum. Having a race in September is a good target for you. Enjoy. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘

(I'm on the PC, not my phone so have had to copy TM's emojis).

You sound like my kind of person Dexy, I completed C25k a month ago, have done a couple of parkrun sans, am able to do 6.5k now, but not sure Iโ€™ll do much more- the 3x a week at that level seems to work for me!

Dexy5 profile image

Well done Fab .. I decided to do 10k plan after my distance naturally crept up to 8!

I think you are totally right you have to enjoy your runs and not make it a chore. Having goals is a great motivator but it can also demotivate if we try and stretch too much too quickly.

Fabulous450 profile image
Fabulous450Graduate10 in reply to Berksrover

๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿฝ Hey Berksrover, I figure if we just keep getting out there in the wilderness we will find our way. This run as you please requires a different mindset for me. So I had to get my own head around what I want running to add to my life. You canโ€™t beat a bit of running for feeling achieved even when you donโ€™t know if you want to go! You will always come back a better version of yourself, no matter what happens out there. The funny thing is you usually come back having completely surpassed where you thought you were! Letโ€™s just keep doing that! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝโค๏ธ

Berksrover profile image
BerksroverGraduate10 in reply to Fabulous450

As ever Fabulous450 you are right, the feeling of achievement after a run is the drug that keeps me going lol. For me, running has been a means to an end, a way to get fitter and to help lose weight, both of which are going well, but I also want running to be enjoyable and a lot of the time it is, I just want to up the proportion. Whatever happens, I can't imagine life without running now! ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜

Well done on the pb! Truely epic! Interesting to read about your thoughts on fun/10k. Iโ€™ve been having a mojo v gremlins battle whilst recovering from my rib injury. One part of me says โ€˜you need to keep improving/achieving so you need to run further/fasterโ€™. Another part says โ€˜whatโ€™s wrong with sticking around 5k, having fun, fitting running into the rest of my life rather than letting it take over completely?โ€™ Iโ€™ve been watching some of my contemporaries doing amazing things and feeling slightly envious, but iโ€™m glad that it sounds like iโ€™m not the only one who is hanging around the 5k bike sheds...!

Fabulous450 profile image
Fabulous450Graduate10 in reply to Pippayoungart

Iโ€™m in the shed with you Pippa! No doubt about that. I definitely admire the 10k goal and achievers (and certainly wouldnโ€™t say never), but Iโ€™m happy with 5k. Itโ€™s a bit like that amazing realisation of feeling bored running around my starting โ€œLittle Parkโ€ nearby my home. When the excitement and feeling of achievement starts to dull, Iโ€™ll seek to go further naturally. Taking 30 - 50 minutes out of a day is pretty awesome, so whatever I can do in that time wonโ€™t be in danger of becoming a chore. I donโ€™t feel itโ€™s boring or repetitive yet. Far from it! A new experience every time. Iโ€™m really not sure where I would even be running for 10k either ๐Ÿค”, but if it needs to happen, Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™ll find a way!

Weโ€™re doing just great!! ๐Ÿ˜โค๏ธ

Get the Charity run out of the way then look at your options, thatโ€™s what I did ๐Ÿ˜Š

The weight will come off without having to diet, Iโ€™ve lost a stone in 10mths purely down to my running and strength exercising, I was a virtual couch potato before, just did a little walking ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ

Ooh well done you! What a fabulous feeling to get to 5K *and* do it in such a quick time ๐Ÿ˜€ It sounds like you know exactly what you want, and are doing the right thing for you - and as you say, the speed and distance may start to happen without you really noticing. And even if they don't, that doesn't matter if you are enjoying it โค๏ธ

Fabulous450Graduate10 in reply to Eiralas

Definitely Eiralas! I can honestly say Iโ€™m feeling on a running high again now! Just staying with the fun factor and not getting too technical about it is a relief.
