Finding my sustainable relationship with running malarkey.

It takes time to put the leg miles and the reading miles in.

I am not patient but beginning to find a relationship with running malarkey and put things on a solid sustainable basis.

It is early days both as a new runner and with a specific plan. But more than happy to shuffle along and make something up that hopefully works for me.

It was JoJo that first set me thinking on a partnership between running brain and running body.

I think this and two other things are the core of what I want to pursue now.

So who owns the show, me , who is calling the shots, running brain, who has to come to the party, running body, who gets the P45 if it’s a shambles, running brain out, a new plan in.Well got that out of the way.

Add to that continuous running and fitness readiness and it is all made up and ready to shuffle along to find the answers. This with the help of another JJ, JuJu our PantherLeader.

Just finished 21days of continuous running. So far so good with regard to physical recovery.Last 7 days was the marathon distance run over the week and two runs per day.

And with 14 starts and 14 rest periods between 8-12 hours.

Hope it all works out.πŸ€”

So this will continue, 3 Weeks on, at Marathon distance per week, and 4th week reduced to HM distance.Repeat monthly.πŸ€”

This has not eliminated completely planning but it has definately simplified it, I mainly only think about my next run, when I finish one, and what’s next in approximately 8-12 hours.

I hope this turns out to be sustainable for me with my new friend Running Malarkey.πŸŒŸπŸ‘πŸ‘

Enjoy your journeys.πŸ’₯πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’₯

Lovely post Tbae - good luck next week! I’m in the middle of helping my son start so I’m running almost everyday (much shorter & slower with him, which I treat as a recovery run) but I’m not sure I could take 2 runs per day!!

Happy journey’ing and look forward for the report next weekend! Keep on shuffling my friend!πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Hi Mitch, that is great with your son and your doing great.πŸŒŸπŸ‘πŸ‘

My 4th week is a recovery week. Just 22k ,1x10k + 6x 2k, so no twice a day runs, unlike my 3 weeks of double day short runs.

Just trying a little and often to build my legs upto the longer distances but also looking to improve my snails pace.

Atb and thanksπŸ’₯πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’₯

As long as you're sure Mr R Malarkey is your friend and not an incubus …… that looks to me like the schedule of a high-class club runner trying to break into top-level competition and go professional, not someone who is "shuffling along".

Whatever else you do, keep listening to "running body", you have to live with him permanently :-)

Mr R Malarkey is my friend alright .

I share the same initials.πŸ€”πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚Mr Running Brain may not be my friend. He knows his fate, P45. πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚

Top level professional runner at 75, I would love that.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚

No Upthestanely,πŸ€” just someone who found this malarkey very late in life.πŸ‘

Wow you are on fire..... you clearly are a man with a plan πŸ˜€ may I make a suggestion that every 3 weeks you have a week of doing very little miles. I have learnt from my run streak journey that this acts in the same way as non running rest days for the body and mind too..... and gives some va va boom to continue... well done you are doing so well

Of course woman of steel.πŸ’₯I will always listen to you.βœ…

I interpretated your previous suggestion, as every 4th week half the amount of miles so 42k down to 22k. That would comprise 1x10k + 6x2k for me.

So one daily short run , not two as the other 3 weeks in the month. Also because I did not want to break my streak of continuous running and test my 10k readiness and also my strength on 16xresistance m/cs in the gym.Going to change my strength regime anyway. But will continue a monthly test on stuff I know.

I have my Frid session woodland workout that I never miss.

That would be a very easy week for me every month.Approx 10-12 hours including warm up and warm down.

Still need to crack on with hedges.πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Good lord, what a force of nature you are and I salute you! What a runner. I want to be as fit and determined as you, one day I might be. But for now I look on in awe. 😁 How do you do it?! x
