To those of you who doubted my sanity when I confessed to having ordered 5 pairs of running shoes in online web sales...the goodies are in! Looks like 3 different pairs are staying, and 2 will be going back. I blame my late Mum - always taught me to look out for bargains! 😂😂😂
Loved running in the cool late this morning, and slowly did my week 3 short run back with my normal old “terrible” forefoot striking gait. Feet were much relieved. Will be aiming to reach 10k just with that. Had to laugh when I went to collect one pair of the shoes from the shop where they did my gait analysis, and discovered the lady advising me didn’t even run herself...🙄😊❤️

The gait lady did mention ASICS gel ones would be a good shock absorption option for me, so I ordered 2 styles of those in the same size. One style fit comfortably (sadly the dearer pair!), the other don’t.
The weird thing about online shopping these days is that it’s often cheaper to try things on at home and return them than to even drive around searching for them in shops. And online sale pairs are unlikely to even be in shops in your size, if at all, as they may be older models.
I listened to an interesting program on the radio some time ago now, when the on-line clothing sellers were saying they loved people ordering, and sending some back. The returns cost a bit to put back into stock, but the value of a good customer who will repeat business is inestimable. It's the new shopping, I'm afraid.
Love the pale blue and red ones - or are they pink?? I see two pairs of Asics and three pairs of Brooks am I right? Sounds like bargains were to be had - which ones are you keeping? Love love love running shopping - enjoy! 😉 💕 x
I’d heard Brooks came up small, but these seem to fit me in 5.5, while my current Adidas Boost trainers are size 6. (Runners Need measured me as size 5.5 when I went for gait analysis.)
I’m keeping these, and a different style of Brooks in size 6 (Neuro 2 from SportPursuit for £34.99 - an odd design, but comfy. The blurb on those sounds good for shock absorption.) Also keeping one pair of Asics Gel Flux 4, which were £54.99 from mandmdirect.com. The cheaper Asics Gel Pulse 9 (£39.99) from that site are a bit small on one foot.
2 Brooks styles / 1 ASICS...you told me changing between different pairs of shoes would let my feet and muscles rest, Flick...when my husband asks, I’m just blaming it all on you! 😉😂😂❤️
Ohhhh, I like your taste in shoes Mountain1953 ...school uniform shopping at the moment, while I’m on holiday then I have 1 DAY to get 3 pairs of school shoes before they go back after our Hol, then, when they’re all safely back in their classrooms I am going home to treat myself!!! I LOVE shopping for running stuff, especially shoes!!! They’re all gorgeous 😉
Isn't it sucky! I'm doing the same and it's hellish passing by the Adidas outlet in favour of North Face for a school coat (although I was sneakily looking at the gilets!!) 😁
I’m more likely to get sucked into North Face...Oooo climbing Gortex...Oooo new approach shoes...Oooo fancy lightweight down jacket for climbing...Followed by NOOOO...put them back, I own too many already!!! 😂🤣😂❤️
I’m kind of hopeful about the ASICS I’m keeping, as I want the gel in them for shock absorption. The other pair of ASICS seemed a different fit altogether, though. The 2 pairs of Brooks I’ve kept are pretty different too. I shall experiment over time... Details of which made the cut are above! 😃❤️
If they had emojis showing walking boots / approach shoes / climbing boots / trainers / sandals then that would better reflect my extensive shoe collection, Eileen...not too many smart shoes in this house...😂❤️
They stick you on a treadmill and video what is happening to your feet and leg angles while you run. Some Physios or Podiatrists will do it for a fee, but quite a few running shops do it to decide what type of trainers you are best wearing. Some gaits suit different trainer types, but some problems they tell you about can’t be corrected by a type of trainer at all, just by trying to change your technique.
I’m learning it’s possibly best to just carry on with your natural gait anyway for now, though I’m going to check with my Sports Therapist If exercises might help the gait issues I’m told I have. Trying to suddenly change your gait seems to result in foot pain and blisters for me! 😊❤️
Have to admit that’s what makes me nervous about going for the size the running shop say I should be, Pink... It’s not uncommon for me to choose hiking boots 2 sizes up from normal to allow for downhill foot movement! Comparing the fit to my current running shoe length, though, I’m hoping they’ll work OK for length on my slightly longer foot, which is my main concern...All the models I’ve chosen seem pretty generous on width.🤞❤️
I typically go 1 whole size up, but constantly then question whether that is right lol. My asics trail shoes I just went 0.5 up and they blister my feet quickly but could be because they are just sweat bags, eg black with no airflow.
Heehee...yes, all 3 chosen pairs are sitting on top of their boxes in the living room looking at me right now...may have to try a strict rotation schedule! Don’t want to be accused of favouritism until I’m sure there’s a firm favourite! 😂😂😂❤️
Most definitely not! Shall clash with pride in the name of comfy shoes and good shock absorption!! (Then again, my black running kit goes with anything...😂🤣😂)
My excuse is my dodgy neck needs really good shock absorption - so these will only want to do half as many miles as anyone else’s running shoes before retirement...😉😂❤️
Please note 2 pairs have already gone back...just couldn’t choose between the other 3 pairs, and they were all such good bargains! 🤣😂
