Too confident!!! 🙄😟

Well I’ve been feeling so good lately and going for little walks every day since the first couple of bootless days, gradually building up. And then on August 1st I started my walking challenge ( 50 miles/ just over 80k for August). I worked out I needed just under 2 miles a day so have been incorporating leisurely walks, with popping into town for a couple of groceries, to blackberry picking and was pleasantly surprised at how well I’ve done. ( 36k so far!!!)

I’ve been wearing my ankle boots and then my walking boots for support and doing fine and the trouble is I have felt so good I actually forgot that I’d hurt my ankle this morning. And whilst drying myself after my shower I stood on my good leg, lifted my right foot onto my knee and twisted my foot towards me to dry it. Ow!ow! Bliddy ow!!!

I know I haven’t done too much except stretch it further than I have done for a while but it meant I have limped whilst walking to town for some fruit and veg - car still in garage getting it’s window sorted. I wound it down and it fell into the door and I had to get 2 lovely garage lads to get it back up and wedge it with a bit of wood until they could order a part for me.

Also battling with the damned wrist brace , on my left wrist luckily and I’m right handed but I didn’t realise how much you use your non dominant hand for steadying things, holding the saucepan while you drain it, holding a bottle tight while you unscrew it.....

I am back to feeling like a right crock again. And October seems so far away ... I WANT TO RUN AGAIN!!😢😢

You all seem to be doing so well I am green with jealousy.

Oh, Lou, what rotten luck, but hopefully no damage done. sometimes things hurt when they are almost healed but a bit stiff from lack of free rotation. I had to laugh at your car window though. that's just the sort of thing that happens to me (except i don't drive - but you get my drift).

Fingers crossed all parts, auto and skeletal, are soon repaired and functioning as they should x

Crikey, limberlou , you are in the wars...what have you done to your wrist now? I can relate to that. My non-dominant wrist has been dodgy for months, but is thankfully getting more useful. You do use them a surprising amount, don’t you. (Probably even more so when you are a bit wobbly with a dodgy leg...)

Sounds like you are doing really well with that poorly leg now, though. 36k is very impressive, even if you are starting to forget to be as careful with it. Hope it lets you stop limping again soon. ❤️❤️❤️

Yeah I hurt the wrist when I fell and did my ankle but didn’t realise quite how much as I was concentrating on not being able to walk. It was quite painful when I was using the crutches but I was leaning more on the other one as that was the side with the poorly foot. It was only when I stopped using the crutches that I realised it was still really painful.

I have to wear the brace for 3 weeks and then Dr will review it.

It means I cannot knit, sew, crochet, hold my book properly, garden ..... so frustrating ...

But the ankle is feeling much better again since I have been resting it this afternoon drinking coffee and gossiping with my friend.

Glad at least the ankle is settling again with rest.❤️ Good luck with the wrist. I’m waiting another few weeks to get mine reviewed at the hospital... am hoping a hydrocortisone injection may be the answer, as mine’s an inflamed tendon issue.🤞

Oh good luck with that. I had one of those for tennis elbow and it sorted it.

Also one in my jaw as it kept crunching when I yawned and chewed.

Yes, I had one that worked really well for a thumb tendon problem. Am hoping to get the same result, if I can persuade them to try one, as nothing else tried so far is properly sorting it out. 🙄

Oh Lou, hopefully just over stretched and nothing too serious. Your walking kms are impressive, well done. Hope the progress continues, will be great to have you back on the pavement. Big hugs :) :)
