Ready to start b210k?

Hi! I graduated c25k in June and have done 10 4-5k runs since then ( I’m not a fair weather runner!) with the aim of getting 5k time below 30 mins. Managed that for the first time yesterday. Yay!

So, do you think that’s enough 5k consolidation to start @ju-ju-‘s plan? I think I need the structure of a new challenge.

Any advice?

Definitely. It’s less about 5k time and more about 5k confidence in my opinion. If you are going out knowing the 5k is in the bag if you keep putting one foot in front of the other, then you are ready.

Advice? Just follow the programme and make the most of the short run. I’ve just done Week 2 so more experienced people will be along shortly.

Thanks Jay. I see your posts regularly. You’re doing incredibly well.

Definitely, but everyone is different so only you will know for sure.

I always need a target/challenge so I pretty much went straight into ju-ju’s programme after graduating and am now happily knocking out 10k’s each week and even starting to think about working up to a HM. However, unlike you I am still not managing a 30min 5k, and probably won’t for a good while yet.

As I said, everyone’s different 😀

But you’re doing amazingly at knocking out great 10K runs! 🙌🏼

If you think you’re ready - you’re ready! The plan is not about speed but endurance. Good luck!

Thanks. Yeah. I know I’ll never manage that pace for more than 5k. Different challenge altogether!

I’m just starting week 2 of the plan, and had just over 2 weeks consolidation after C25k. As others are saying, if you feel ready then you are! 👍❤️😎

Thanks all. Sounds like I just need to get in there and have a go. I still remember when 5k sounded like a frickin’ long way but 10k...? I’m in awe of you folks.

I’m gonna need a bigger podcast...

Thanks so much

That's more than enough on my book! Get on this bus!! The more the merrier...

Advice: Slow the speed of your long run down by around 30 secs per K (from your average 5K speed) and you'll nail it!

Thanks Sutsha. Was wondering how much to slow down for on the longer runs. Was just about managing 155bpm on 5k so will aim for about 140 and see how I get on. Cheers!

Actually I thought I might get on the bus for the middle bit and jump off just before the finish setting an amazing pb.
