A small diversion... a 5 mile diversion to be exact :)

Should have posted this last Monday, but better late than never!

After graduating C25K for the second (or is it third?) time, I set my sights towards running 10K. It has been a bit stop/start, as after having reached 9k I had to take a break from training after my twins were born.

I decided to get started again, but before starting in earnest, there was something I had committed in doing: my local 5 mile race was on, the Mid Kent 5 Miler, on the 15th of July and I had already registered...I find that registering for a race helps keep me motivated and focused, plus I like collecting medals to someday show to my children. I'd love them to experience this wonderful sense of achievement you get when you try hard and manage to do something that seemed impossible to begin with!

So to cut a long story short, I did the 5 miles, actually managed to run the majority of it, with small walking breaks, despite the 30 degrees heat, and feel absolutely brilliant about it! My local race was well organised and very friendly, and I hope I can do it again next year, and hopefully break the 1 hour mark (I was just over it this year).

Next stop the 10K! Now, to chose a race to register on :)

Well Done GeorgiosA. Having done a 5 miler, you haven’t got far to go. How old are your twins now?

Thank you Dexy5 ! It was 5 miles, but took walking breaks - would like to get to the point of running (ok - jogging/poodling along...) for 10K...I did it for 9, so it is achievable. Sophia and Leo are now 2 months and 2 days old - and I am already researching Junior Parkruns, lol!

Ah, ok I was mega impressed, 2 months post twin birth and running 5 miles???!!!! Then I realised you are the dad. Still impressed, but not as much had you given birth as well! 🏃🏻‍♂️😂

Thank you! The race was to support the local cricket club, hence the medal with the cricket theme... I love it!
