Can't quite believe I ran these paths! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

I've been doing a lot of walking on the footpaths that cross a nature reserve near my house. It's really beautiful there but I've been a bit nervy of running because some of it is quite overgrown and uneven.

I've recently joined a running club and yesterday ran 10k with them - a large portion of which was across the same footpaths. On this morning's walk I was astonished at what I'd run on! I must have been concentrating so hard that I didn't notice the terrain. I'm super chuffed and very excited that it is possible to run these paths (obviously with care!) as it's definitely something I'm very keen on exploring further.

Whatever type of runs you have coming up - enjoy them :-)

Nice route. Beware ankles!

Absolutely! It was good going with the club because they were obviously very aware of the problems. I was running about 2 mins per km slower than I normally would too. One of the guys said as long as you are carefull it's actually very good to run a route with lots of different terrain as the impact on you joints isn't so relentless x

That looks like a nice easy trail, grass not too long, not too many tree roots or holes. Ideal running terrain :) I see your grass and raise you this photos.app.goo.gl/25HdVwzPJ...

I watched a family, mom pop and two teens hoof it down there and up the other side without a pause, if you live by hills you live with hills I guess.

That's fighting talk.

Looks good tho.

OMG!! Not sure I could even walk down the first one - I actually hate going downhill even more than I do uphill ๐Ÿ˜‚

Now blow your mind,

Google The Berghaus dragons back race every two years.

They run over the Crib Goch Arรชte and onto Snowdon and more.

Actually this might make an interesting post, severe race terrains.

Perhaps not. ๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ™ˆ

Oh I can play this game! I see your tiny hills, and raise you these guys and that's without even leaving the city limits. Beyond that I definitely need off-road shoes! ๐Ÿ˜„

But to @pianoteacher - running off road is great. It makes you feel small and huge all at once. It's so good for blowing away cobwebs too!

(Tried to do the tagging thing, and failed. ๐Ÿ˜”)

Don't think links work. Should try using icloud ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜œ

I'd rather eat my own running socks. I don't know why they don't work, they're shareable. Never mind. They were nice hills though. ๐Ÿ™

How lovely! I know what you mean about not realising what you've run. I've not run much recently but have done a lot of walking around my 5k route - there's a particular uphill incline that I'm staggered by every time!

Enjoy the exploration.

Thanks - it's mental isn't it! I think it must be some kind of survival mechanism that stops us from noticing. My shuffley running style meant I noticed I had to pick my feet up more than usual (apparently one of the fastest runners in the club is a shuffler but I don't think that will be me anytime soon ๐Ÿ˜‚) but that was all x

Probably need new shoes ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ for this new terrain!! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ x

Fab excuse for trail shoes! I like a mix of road and trails. Trails are great for slowing you down and making you look where every footfall will land. Really good for strengthening ankles too. Uphill on trails can be tough but its all great experience!! ๐Ÿ‘โœŠ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜

Goodness, very well done, those look scary!

Thanks Hidden it was reading about your runs that first made me want to go cross country :-)

I did scary paths too as you know :) you don't think about it at the time so much ...

Have not looked at Michaelโ€™ links yet, sorry pinkaardvark,

I have no doubt they wil be awsome, but for whatโ€™s its worth I think you have changed into a hovercraft lawnmower.๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Running off road and on tracks and trails is the best! Yes, you have to stay alert to trip hazards but it is so much more interesting! I run on road too quite happily but you can't beat a good trail! Well done on your run!๐Ÿ™‚

Looks awesome Pianoteacher! You are a machine! A month after graduating and you are running 10ks over rough terrain!

Are you still looking to join the army? You will surely pass any fitness test!

Must be great running with other folks too.

Yep - waiting for my medical waiver which will take ages (probs over a year - so hopefully I'll be super-fit by then :-) ). It's really fun running with the club x

Lots of my paths are like those. I use that as an added reason to keep slow. Presumably your new running buddies set a speedy pace even on those paths. A few weeks back at 6am the grass was wet with dew to wet my shoes right through. Well done you keeping up with your new speedy running friends! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Well done for tackling those types of paths - you're right about the need to slow down.

Some of the people in the group are super speedy! It's very impressive and they are very nice too - lots of good advice and they stop and wait and let us slower runners take a breather x

Maybe worth also taking some After Bite with you- just in case - the horse flies have been out for the last couple of weeks and you donโ€™t want to experience what Oldfloss did !! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜€ The routes look amazing ๐Ÿ˜‰ I will probably try a few around where I am ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks - good advice. I wore full length leggings for the walk today so didn't put any repellent on - got quite a few bites through them unfortunately :-( Nothing major but having to try very hard not to itch them! x
