A long hot one (ooh er missus) - 15k

So the temperature showed 24 degrees as I set off just after midday, I'm sure plenty of you have it hotter at the moment but for the North East that is pretty tropical.

The plan was to do at least 10k and get the month off to a flying start. I headed out from Dinnington towards Big Waters nature reserve, over the A1 and through Dudley and onto Weetslade Park, an old coal mining tip now turned into a local nature park.

With no cover here the heat started to get brutal but I was still feeling ok as I got to 10k and began to head back towards Hazelrigg.

Have to admit however that for the last 2k the legs had gone and whilst I was technically running it was little more than walking pace.

However I am now sitting in my father in laws sunny garden sipping a pint of iced water and feeling pretty pleased with myself.

Now back to the football.....

Run happy, run safe.

Chris, l know a few things about running in hot weather and one of the ground rules is that you should be done and dusted by 10-11am at the latest. Running in high temperatures at midday is risking a heat stroke and that guy arrives completely unannounced. Well done on your distance!

Can only dream (if that's the right word) of 15 km, just hoping to get to 10 in the next 6 weeks or so
