Didn't do the Jersey Parkrun today. I got up early in the hotel, room very well soundproofed, but as soon as I went into the corridor I could hear and see the heavy rain. Even thunder and lightning. I was dressed for a run so went for breakfast anyway, actually drove about 15 minutes to the park then just sat in the car and looked at the rain. I didn't have a running jacket with me and would have got soaked. My running shoes are the only trainers I have with me and I have only a hotel bathroom to clean mud off. So I drove back to the hotel.

The day cleared up later and I had a lovely long beach walk. I'm getting into a habit of pulling out of things for one reason or another, I must (in the words of Bob Newhart) just 'stop it'.

Maybe I should commit to doing next Saturday's Parkrun at home.

Personally, I dislike cycling or running in the rain, OK a serious runner does not mind doing that but us here on C25K are beginners and like to run in dry weather and when It's not too hot. I have been lucky so far that apart from 1 day, I think it was R3W7 is the only time I have had rain, unpleasant. Rain would not stop me from a scheduled run, if possible I would wait until it went off even if it meant that I ran later in the day and not at my usual time of about 9 am.

Love running in the rain and would have loved a storm even more! But I totally get not getting your one pair of shoes soaked! Next Saturday 👌🏽

There's lots of great places to run. We had a great week, just Saturday morning was very wet. The afternoon had glorious sunshine. Unfortunately though, Parkrun waits for not time nor tide....

Running in thunder and lightning is not sensible! And cleaning mud off in a hotel room would make me feel very guilty! I trailed muck through a hotel and left a bit of a mess in a hotel bathroom last week. Then packing soggy shoes and soaked clothes - or trying to get them dry - no fun! I think you made the right decision!

Thanks JaySee. Now that I'm home I agree. I was just disappointed at the time 😄

I would never leave any mess in a hotel 😃. I used to run a modest place so like tidy guests 😃

I am hoping for no rain next week ☀️🌤⛅️🌥☁️

I always leave a room tidy so I made the right decision on the day. I hope you have fun next week 😄

I'm a fair-ish weather runner too ... and would be very nervous about running in a thunderstorm. It's not so bad if the rain starts after you've set off but hard to get going when it's already raining. I think I've only run in the rain 2 or 3 times in the past 6 months! We're having a drought up here in NE Scotland - 6 weeks since we had a decent bit of rain (had half a mm last night - the most for ages!), so we veg growers are starting to get nervous - do feel free to send a bit up here this week! :)

Where in NE Scotland are you? (I hail from there originally)

I'm halfway between Inverurie and Banchory, near the village of Midmar. How about you? :)

Not as far NE as you. Forfar originally. You may consider that 'down south' 😄

Lol! Forfar's almost next door really ;) x
