So what’s working for me ? What’s working for you ?

I ve just joined the raceatyourpace 50mile in June challenge and after 2 runs I’m really enjoying the challenge of having to increase my 5kms if I’m gonna get this medal 😁.

I plan runs that have the potential to be 7km+ but that I can stop after 5km if I need to.

I have changed the stats on my ionic watch face so I’m not checking my pace , splits etc every 2minutes. I just know the time I’ve been out running.

I’m trying not to avoid hills ( today’s had a couple of inclines but nothing to drastic).

I’m doing trails more than road where I can ( I’ve realised that I hate being on roads where people can see me running , I’m overweight and run slow so I feel embarrassed when I run past people) .

I’ve broken my 50miles into weekly targets so as long as I can get 12 miles a week done I know I’m on target.

I’m so focussed on this I just want to be further in my running journey than I am . I’m desperate to be running 10km and to be a good runner. Roll on the next couple of months 😍😍

Sounds like an excellent plan.

You can't rush these things! You're still getting out there and doing great by the sounds of it so you're already a good runner 🙂

I’m doing that too. Each week I’ll do 10k, 5k, 5k

I've not done 10k yet so I'm tryi v to build up the miles steadily. Did you go a plan to get from 5k to 10k or did you just go for it?

I graduated in April and feel like I should be running 10k by now but not sure how tp get there. I really liked thecstructure of c25k.

After this months challenge of 50 miles I think I'm gonna start a proper 5 to 10k plan in July.

I started ju-ju-‘s plan but in week 2 got to 7.4k and then just went to 10k next long run. I found once I got into a SLOW steady pace, I could just keep going but the last 1-2k I had to really push on! I like structure too. I’m just trying to consolidate and build speed now. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Naughty thoughts about half marathons next year keep creeping into my mind though 🤔

I did 7.5 km yesterday for the first time and I did feel like I could go further. Today however I'm a tad stiff lol.

Maybe by the end of the month I 'll be managing 10km without starting the programme. If not I'll try jujus.

A half marathon. You go girl. Imagine how amazing that will feel. Exciting.

Not sure I’ll do it tbh. Just those niggling thoughts. I’m sure you’ll do 10k within a couple of weeks 👌🏽

I’m not sure what is the best strategy. To enter, pay that entry fee and know you’ve “got” to do it or to do the training, know you are nearly there and then enter.

There are women at my running club who had entered and paid for 10ks and a half marathon by the end of the graduation week 😳. There are others that don’t enter till they know they can do it.

I keep looking at 10ks for September /October but still haven’t taken the plunge yet !!

And there is always the transfer option if you do enter but change your mind . Good luck either way 😁

I entered a 5k before graduation, then when I met that i put in for 10k. Whereabouts are you?

I’m Nottingham.

I’m part of an awesome group called Notts Women’s Runners. There are thousands of us all over Nottingham. From people who are running Ultras to people who take 50 minutes to run 5km . They are so inclusive it’s great BUT I still like to run on my own quite a lot. I like the me time .

They also have so much information about the best races and runs which I’ve never had before. I started to run in 2012 but damaged my cruciate ligament after only 4months running. The NWR group wasn’t formed until 2014 and when I started again in Jan this year I joined them. They have helped this running journey so much. They also do so much for charity , they really are great.
