Yes I know that’s not very exciting for you 10kers but it is for me😁 as it’s only my 4th run since graduating AND I beat my time for my first one too ( still took me 39 mins but it means I’m managing to run for longer so I’ll take that ) so smiley face all day now. I really must get myself a playlist as I’m still using the week 9 one and not turning it on till I’ve done my warmup, then running through Laura’s warmup, and then when she says “well done you’ve run for 20 mins now” I slide it back halfway and then it just about lasts for my 5k. Not ideal but I think I’d miss Julie- maybe have to include her in my new playlist.
It’s funny I find I run further when I run on my own as I sort of “zone out” or maybe “zone in” is a better one and I’m just conscious of my feet and breathing in a rhythm and I suddenly realise I’m nearly there. I find that chatting as I go distracts me and I think about bits that ache and I can’t breathe properly. I DO like to run with my daughter as I find I’m a bit competitive and won’t give in till she does. And she tends to set a pace and I keep up ( just about) .
I’ve been back about an hour and feel nearly back to normal but my face stays red for ages. Does anyone else gets this ? I match my curtains?

i prefer running on my own - i zone in like you say. Going on my first ever group run tonight which should be interesting. Hope they don't think i'm rude if i zone in to my music...
as for the red face - every time! thankfully it has normally settled within an hour - depends how hot it is outside lol. You are one of many of us 'rose' coloured runners
Lovely to read that lou. It's exciting for me to read about other consolidators. I'm trying my first 5km tomorrow as I am psychologically stuck on 4.75km
I'm running naked at the moment with Runkeeper reminding me after every 5 minutes and every kilometer. I do miss 'Julie' 'though but I know where she is if I want her.
Well done! I remember replaying week 9 with Sarah Millican for ages when I graduated! Now I listen to playlists I’ve made myself or listen to a podcast as that really distracts me! I love listening to people talking!!!
I found myself improving over time without really doing anything different! I run alone even when I meet up with a few others one evening a week! We set off together but then just go at our own pace!! I didn’t get a red face until the warmer weather arrived! 😀
