Another 5K race around the corner

Woot woot! Longest run of my adult life, this morning: 49 minutes on the treadmill. My pace is still awfully slow but I've read that the first year of running is really just about getting lots and lots of hours of running (but never two days in a row, of course) on one's legs... I'll focus on speed, in the future. Want to ensure that I don't injure myself and want to ensure this process is fun, rather than painful or discouraging.

My second-ever 5k race, on Saturday. I won't try to beat my time from my first race (end of April) of 36+ minutes. I shall simply enjoy the getting more experience racing, more miles of running on my legs, and feeling like "a runner."

We're being inundated with images and news of the "royal wedding." I love The Queen but find all of this excessive and silly. I'm sure you Brits must be swimming in it, 24/7; my heart goes out to you.

Warm hugs to all, from Canada. We celebrate "Victoria Day," today. xox

There was a wedding? Can't say I noticed.

I wasn’t going to watch it as I was busy but I did bake a low fat fruity strawberry sponge to mark the occasion I didn’t watch all of it but sat down and watched the main bit, which was lovely. It’s great fun to see the outfits. Some very posh ones as you’d expect 🙂

Enjoy your race Henriette 😃👍🏃‍♀️ You can have your race added to the events caldender so you get a shout out and big cheer

It’s over yonder in the race support community A sticky on the right hand side of the page in blue text 🙂

I've never managed 5k in less than 44 minutes. I'm painfully slow. i would love to do it faster but age and physiology and hills are against me, I fear xx

I don't think that's painfully slow, at all, Sweet Flick! Besides, as John "the Penguin" Bingham reminds us... there's no need for speed. Our heart, muscles, bones, skin, etc. are all ecstatic that we're running at any pace, and surely that counts for more than boasting rights of completing a race in less than X minutes. I know it's dreadfully un-British of me to say this, but I'm Canadian so I'm allowed: Hooray for us! oxo

Dont worry, Im not competitive, I run for pleasure. But part of that is the exhiliaration of going a bit faster sometimes 😊 xx
