Morning Lovlies 😊

Well...here I am...sitting in bed with a nice cup of tea fully wallowing in self pity haha πŸ˜‰

When I got pregnant & had my daughter 5 ish years ago I suffered with terrible back pain...have always had sore knees & as a result of a nasty car accident 2 years ago I have a neck injury that causes me alot of pain from my shoulder right down to my fingertips.

When I began running these all got worse but as my body got stronger & fitter running actually eliminated all of these entirely...it was amazing!!!

Because i havn't been able to run & now my fitness has declined all 3 of these have returned with a vengeance!!!everything is going to pot!!!!

Life is cruel sometimes!!!I had planned on trying a short run today but my motivation has taken a vacation & i cannot imagine being able to achieve an awful lot.

That said i wish you all a wonderful week & Happy Running 😊

Right, that's the conversation with your gremlins over for the day. Now! Get out there and run - even if it's only 100 yards, even if you puff and pant. Do NOT be beaten by this!!! I've had runs where i had to give up after 5 minutes and go home and, yes, they got me down, but they were still runs. If you let this slide, you will really regret it and it will be harder than ever to get back out there. I'm here for you, we're all here for you. Now, run! xxx

Thanks Flick 😊 i did go out earlier...it was a really crappy run but i did get out x

Well done Claire! Just keep plugging away at it. My run yesterday was tediously slow and my legs felt like lead for 20 minutes, but it was miles in the bank. Dont give up. You are amazing and brave and strong, even if you sometimes doubt yourself. Big hug and cheer for getting out there xxx

in reply to

Ah thankyou lovely lady 😊 i just feel a bit lost x

in reply to

I understand that. But if you look back on this journey, you will see that what you are going through is part of it all and part of your developmwnt as a runner. I know you can beat this xxx

Thankyou lovely xx

In your current context no run can be considered a crappy run. Bravo!

in reply to GoogleMe

Thankyou 😊

Alternately have a week's break and then get back out there. though the danger with that is that you'll give up altogether. I wish you lived nearer and we could have a run or two together - though you would leave me in the dust as you're way faster than me.

Claire, get out and run. It will make you feel better. I have no choice. I'm going to be on the IC for a while. Don't put it off, just go.

in reply to SlowLoris

I did push myself out the door...it was a crappy run but i got it done x

Well done. Just keep it going. Treat it as a treat not a chore.

BUT!!!!!! Your're on here reading and posting and wishing. Stirrings of a latent runner.

I frequently run the 'I don't want to run' run. They are some of the most satisfying. You will be stronger mentally and sometimes that;s more important than the physical.

I recently took an enforced rest due to an eye problem and was told not to run for six weeks or I could risk a retinal detachment, It was very scary starting again but I needed to put my running shoes back on for the sake of my sanity and stress levels.

Acknowledge the negative thoughts, kick them into touch and get out there. Even if it's only a mile, that's another one in the bank.

I am just about to run today, I hope you will join me.

Come on. Let's run. Because we can!

Sending motivational vibes in your direction

in reply to TuggyLugs

Thankyou so much 😊 i really appreciate that 😊 i did get out...not a great run but i got it done x

Please please get out there!

Do as Flick says ... just 100yds.

Your motivation might still be on vacation but when it gets back you can tell it you managed without it!

Thank you for wishing all of us 'happy running', we all want you to join us.

So ... very slow and very steady and just up the road and back ... you can do it!

Good luck and happy running to you too!

in reply to Wizziewood

Thankyou lovely 😊 i did get out...it was utter rubbish but i got out x

So glad to hear that. It might not get any easier but next time perhaps you can run a few more yards?

Go Claire go!

in reply to Wizziewood

You did great Claire.....you put those damn gremlins back in their box! We need to keep them there! Every run counts, good or bad!

I am happy to do a virtual run with you anytime if it would help xxx

in reply to Millsie-J

Thanks lovely...i will see how i go 😊 xx

Yeah, just go for a walk in your running gear. Zero commitment.

in reply to pinkaardvark

I did manage a run...mixed with a bit of walking x

You need to get out there and just do what you can, otherwise you'll go backwards and undo all that good work. As others have said, maybe recap the last few weeks of c25k. It seems a shame to waste what you achieved, not to mention the crime of robbing the world of seeing you in your wild leggings.......

in reply to MikeJones68

Haha...well we can't have thatπŸ˜‰!!!

It is just so frustrating!!!it took me so much to get C25K done in the first place...& all of this has been out of my hands i guess!!!life gets in the way too & its just a nightmare πŸ˜” i think you are right though...i am going to have to dip back into the programme as i am floundering right now & have no idea which way to turn!!!

I hope all is well with you 😊

I'm lucky that I have the lunchtime club at work, otherwise I'd struggle to get enough runs in. I'm OK. Same old!

Good to hear 😊

The hardest bit is getting your kit on and getting out of the door. Unless any of your three arch enemies are hurting today, I'm guessing that you want to get out there, or you wouldn't be typing about it. So lace 'em up and go out for a run-walk with some cool music. Doesn't have to be far, just enough to shut the gremlin up.

in reply to mfamilias

Oh they are all killing me but i have to do my best to ignore them.i did push myself out of the door but it was pretty rubbish x

Nothing is as rubbish as going to bed without having done what you planned. So, RESULT.

Glad you managed to get out, and even if it was a crappy run, β€œa run is a run, is a run” so celebrate. You did it.

Hopefully it won’t be so hard next time.

in reply to Razouski

Thanks 😊 i think i just need more of a plan x

As well as wonderful running, you might find Pilates a help with all that joint pain. It helped me a lot well before I discovered running.πŸ˜€

in reply to Elfe5

I had physio & accupuncture neither of which helped.its a nerve empinchment in the neck/shoulder which is why pain goes all the way to my fingers.running somehow releases that nerve!!!

I see you did get out... very well done.... a short jogette can be all you need for a little while!!!

You have done it before and you will do it again.... we are all here and all running with you...you are amazing... and although it does not feel like it... the strength is still inside you :)

in reply to Oldfloss

Thankyou lovely lady 😊 i think i am going to have to dip back into the programme & repeat the last few weeks to bring myself back to some sort of fitness x

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministrator60minGraduate in reply to

It works.. you know I have had spells off the path mainly due to daft injuries... but trying bits here and there can be really useful:)

Fingers crossed x

Don’t let your fitness slide Claire to stay pain-free. Some runs are crap but the more you run the less crap they become. It’s like everything else, it takes practice. Run walks are fab! It can be fun! Go somewhere nice, take your camera and some music, it doesn’t have to be ”rubbish”, a word you use frequently.

Being outside, getting some exercise is so good for the mind and body so keep turning out πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ™‚

in reply to misswobble

I am trying to get my fitness back having been ill for weeks...unfortunately the pain has returned because of the lack of running due to illness...pain has never put me off & i have always run through it...i am just finding it tricky having had so much time out

misswobble profile image
misswobbleGraduate10

Yeah it’s a vicious circle int it. It will all come right though! Have faith in yourself πŸ™‚πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ

Fingers crossed x

Just a thought but are you getting adequate pain relief? I know nerve pain can be a bit of a b****r to medicate but it might make the difference between being able to get out there and take self-help measures which you need longer term and spiralling on down. It sounds a bit as though you may be relying on determination alone and that wears out eventually.

in reply to GoogleMe

That is true...i have some hardcore painkillers but they tend not to do too much to help πŸ˜•

I find TENS quite good (if you get the right setting and use it on the back for endorphin production)

Well done for getting up and out today. You can do this. You want to do this and you will. You're not on your own either - some lovely posts on here. Be kind to yourself and take it slowly, small steps and all that :)

in reply to linda9389

Thankyou 😊 its frustrating & will take time but i am determined 😊
