...did not happen. I pulled out.

Various factors, the most important being that I had pain when I ran/walked 2.5k on Thursday. My daughter advised me not to do the event, she said if I aggravated it I might end up not running for the next 2 months. She's much more sporty and experienced than I am, she has recently recovered from an injury herself. So I took her sage advice and didn't do it. I can't tell you how disappointed and sad I am, which is weird.

She ran it though, and thinks she got a pb. Other factors meant that I didn't make the 1.5 hour journey to Bristol to cheer her on and have lunch together.

I did make the best of the day with 2 long walks - one in the morning with a group of friends, the other in the afternoon with Mr J57. I'll try a short run on Tuesday. I'm going to look for another 10k later in the year that my daughter and I might do together.

Sorry you're feeling disappointed but think it was wise to listen to your daughter. Frustrating as it is she was probably right. Here's to recovery and the next run.

It’ll wait! You can do another later like you said 👍🏽

Oh, really sorry you didn't make it Joy, but I completely agree with your daughter - and there are always other races. Take the time you need to get better and let your body heal . I remember reading (when I was injuried!) 'every setback paves the way for a great comeback'. Take care.x

Sounds like a good philosophy (if a bit hard to appreciate right now) 🙂

Sorry to hear that you had to pull out of the race but best to be cautious and not risk further injury. I speak from experience (I am writing this as I do my physio exercises!). Take care.

Thanks Sue. I am going to try a short run tomorrow and see how it goes 😃

You made the right decision Joy. It's only one race and you have loads more to do in the future! If you're in pain then there's really no point.

I understand how you feel. I've had to pull out of a few races due to injury and it's hard. But you'll get better and be in even better shape for future events.

Thanks IP. The galling thing is that I now feel fine if I don't run. Going to try a short one tomorrow. I am also entered for a local fun run this Sunday, 2.5 miles, I might manage that 😄

The runs will still be there, and more importantly, so will you... Cheer up... your daughter did amazingly and you will be there doing one too :)

Thanks Floss. Pulling out of anything doesn't come easy to me - I am definitely a completer-finisher type! Anyway, let's see how the rest of the week goes 🙂

You will race another day Joy! Sorry to hear this weekend didn't work out as you had planned, but your daughter is right, you could have made your injury much worse...

Good luck easing back gently and see how it goes...

Your daughter did really well. Hope you get to run together another time.😊xxx

I'm sure we will run together another time.

I did another 2.5k this morning and, although it wasn't completely painfree, it was better than Thursday's, the exact same route and I did it 2 minutes faster. Hopeful that things are improving 😃
