First run back since stroke

First run back since the stroke and getting the all clear from my Neurologist on Wednesday.

Had some good news on the stroke and it’s not one that’s likely to reoccur,it was a tear and blockage in he vertebral artery in my neck. I’m down one major artery feeding the noggin and likely to be off work for 5 months more but should make a fairly full recovery with physio and pain management... feel so much better getting out running again.

Phew..that is good news, that the stroke is unlikely to reoccur Cliff. Five months off work sounds like you have a bit of a recovery to make though!

Good luck with your physio and pain management, and it seems you are allowed to do some running which is a huge boost. No overdoing though, enjoy a nice steady pace.

Lovely to have you back. Take care 😊xx

It's great to see you back again and well done on the run. But I'm a bit surprised that you were allowed to do this distance on your first run back after a stroke. You did get the OK to do this?

Welcome back 🏃‍♀️ So pleased to see you’re back to running, and how! You did amazingly well there. Well done 👍😃

I hope you can soon get back to full health and once again be firing on all cylinders. Some decent warm weather will help the feel-good factor

Take care 🙂

Yep I have permission to run from my neurologist. I did intervals to keep heart rate down. The stroke was caused by a tear in my vertebral artery so no weights, nothing involving neck pressure such as acceleration, no sit ups and so on... cardio is fine and my ticker is top notch.... physio and acupuncture to work on the head, neck and left arm and shoulder pain starts Tuesday.... intervals will be my friend for a long time to come. I think my goal of a 25 min 5k and 52 min 10K are going to wait until next year. The goal is a half broke my stroke anniversary.
