10k will have to wait for another day...

Currently on the IC ... so disappointed ... yesterday should have been my 'big' day.

A year ago on 14/2/17 as a total non runner I started C25k, for months I have been working towards running 10k to celebrate my anniversary but it wasn't to be.

4K into Saturday's Parkrun I had a sudden pain in my calf, I stopped immediately and rested for the next few days. Yesterday it felt a lot better but not 100% so being determined to go ahead with my run I took pain killers, rubbed in ibuprofen gel and set off ... big mistake! ... just 1k in and I had to stop.

So, so disappointed, I couldn't even bring myself to read the forum last night!

However ... onwards and upwards! I'll take a proper rest now and hopefully I'll be reporting my 10k very soon.

Thank you all for your advice, support and inspiration over the last year, I couldn't and wouldn't have got this far without you.

Happy running everyone ... and stay injury free!

It will heal.... :)

You are being really sensible...Now..please, get it checked... by a Sports Physio... :) If you check out some of my posts, I had a minor calf tear.. it was a while getting sorted... but..it is best to find out what is happening:)

Thank you for your advice, I know a good physio who has helped me in the past.

I have read many of your posts and replies and your wise words are with me on my runs. I've mastered 'slow and steady' but my feet don't always 'kiss the ground'!

Mine neither...but I keep trying... Slow and steady has reached a new level with me currently... but..I will get there too ...I hope all sorts soon, and those calf muscles feel better :) x

Happy runniversary! I am sorry you are spending it on the IC, but your 10k will be there for you once your calf is right again. Well done for all you have achieved over the past year.

Ouchy Wizziewood 😐....sorry to hear you have taken on an injury and its scuppered your special runniversary run...

Do what you need to do to get well, take Floss's excellent advice, and that run will be yours when you are fit and ready...

Keep checking in on the forums, your advice and encouragement is always valued.

Good luck😊xx

As someone in exactly the same situation I (literally) feel your pain! I’m a bit behind you as I only started C25K last August but was still entered for a 10K this May - now in week 3 of shin splint in right leg and doing what I’m told (I’ve learned patience and to do what I’m told from running - neither things I normally do!). Hope you feel better and we will all get there eventually.

Thanks!

Yes, we'll all get there in the end. Hope you're soon mended!
