Afraid I couldn't wait.. so have now done 10k following your fab programme... Big thanks for all your time and effort, it is hugely appreciated. I will of course be following along as I work on consolidating my legs under this new distance. I'm sure you will have a huge cohort of followers though so it's going to be loads of fun reading how everyone gets on :)

Thankyou :)

No no noo..... Consolidate only. :O

A very tentative "I'm in" as it's too long since I last ran 10k (back before Google's hip issues made themselves known... no reason for us not to get back to it) and it is on my plan for the first quarter of 2018.

I don't care about the distance really now I've ticked it off... but I do like the calories burned on a long run... and most of all the wonderful views. Longer run = more views = better fed soul

I might trail along behind somewhat (rather as I have been doing with Rignold 's skwats) but I do kind of feel the need for that bit of extra support and excitement, so we'll see!

Hi! I’d like to join in please! I graduated c25k in early December and have been doing 5K 2 or 3 times every week since! Increasing distance myself gradually but need a bit of structure to run further I think! πŸ˜€

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Graduate10 in reply to Sarakc

brilliant, good timing then.... :)

feebe profile image

Yes, I defo want to join! What time do we start on Friday? I’m so excited to have some structure back to my running as finished C25k just before Christmas and struggling to motivate myself without a programme. πŸ‘πŸΌ

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Graduate10 in reply to feebe

Great! How it works is that I will post on Friday with a video explaining what do do for week 1. You then decide which days you will run. There will be a print off plan for you to cross off the runs and colour in too :) I then do a post each week explaining what you will be doing the following week. Then there is a certificate at the end. I hope that makes sense?!!

Brilliant, thank you! Makes perfect sense πŸ‘Œ

Yes, please count me in, although I'm just graduating from the 5. It would be great to have the next goal in my sights!

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Graduate10 in reply to roderick999

Great!!! I did the same as you and carried on to 10k after the 5k. Some people like to take some time to consolidate the 5k, but its entirely up to you. The plan is very simple and follows on from C25K.

Hopefully I'll be graduating this weekend and my next target is going to be 10K. Do you think I would be better to consolidate my 30min/5K runs for a while before starting a 10K programme?

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Graduate10 in reply to Sigered

This is up to you. Alot of people do, yes. Personally I didnt, I carried on till I get to 10k after graduating as I needed a focus. How do you feel running 5k? Comfortable?

Sigered profile image
SigeredGraduate10

Just noticed the almost identical question from roderick999 above. I've finished two of the week 9 runs so far and have felt fairly comfortable after, well, as comfortable as you would expect for someone who was only running for 60 seconds 12 weeks ago.

Count me in and we'll see how it goes. It will be good to have another structured plan to follow.

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Graduate10 in reply to Sigered

It is a gentle plan, and we will do one of the weeks twice, so its not too demanding...

I'm going to follow along again, after having a break for the good of my knee - have managed a couple of 10+k runs but I definitely need to consolidate the longer distances for a while before moving on from there, as my legs are still a bit more fragile than I'd like.

ju-ju- profile image

Fantastic, I am so glad :)

I've just started a Bridge to 10k program that I have on my phone as an app. (I've done it twice before actually) but as I've only done one run so far, I will be joining in in spirit with you guys if that's okay.

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Graduate10 in reply to AnneDroid

absolutely, the support will help you :)

Do you think Im ready for this? Ive only done 6k so far and it took me 53 minutes.

pinkaardvark profile image
pinkaardvarkGraduate10 in reply to

Joking aside. You definitely should do it, speed is irrelevant and the more you run the faster you will get :)

in reply to pinkaardvark

I was just worried I would be pushing myself too soon. But I would like to do it.

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Graduate10 in reply to

It depends how you feel. You may want to consolidate your current 5k for a while, or indeed sign up to this. Its going to be a rolling plan now so you can sign up at any point :)

in reply to ju-ju-

Thanks ju-ju- , I shall take a look on Friday and decide then. It would be nice to have a plan to,work to.

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Graduate10 in reply to

some people in the past have completed the plan with a time increase rather than distance. So essentially adding 10% of time onto your long run each week. This may work better for you?

in reply to ju-ju-

I’ll look at the program and then decide. At the moment time and distance seem to be intertwined for me. I go out and see how long I keep going comfortably, then check time and distance after. Both are creeping up 😊

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Graduate10 in reply to

well done :)

Please count me in JuJu. However I’m working till 1900 on Friday so mai start on Saturday.

By the way hope you weren’t driving when you were up tubing. Would hate to think you had an accident.

Happy running JujuπŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Hi ju-ju, I have been planning since the beginning of the year to join in this time round but have been scuppered by a very persistent viral infection 😑. Fingers crossed for next time.

Anthie profile image

Hi Ju-Ju,

Count me in even if I'm not at the top of my form at the moment. But I need a goal to make some kind of progress. So I'll try and see how I feel, quite excited to try actually :-) Do I need a tracking device in order to figure out the distance? Stupid question I know. So far, except when running with my Buddy who has a cellphone and apps, I've figured it out with Google maps and habit.

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Graduate10 in reply to Anthie

Anything goes really. In the past I have run the programme for those wanting to increase time on their run rather than clocking distance. I could add this in for you if that would help?

Anthie profile image

That would be great, thank you!

Hi Ju-Ju, I am delighted to hear that this will be a rolling program. I am probably ready to join, but want to leave it for a few more weeks until the horrendous heat and humidity in my neck of the woods eases off a bit as heat stroke is not going to do anything for my fitness. In the meantime I will lurk enviously! Best of luck to everyone signing up.

yes it will be a rolling plan so join up whenever you feel able to..... love the name btw... I love green tea :)

ju-ju- profile image

You could do it by time if that would help more... ie add on 10% of time onto each of your long runs...

Hi! I'd love to start increasing my distance in a safe and manageable way! Completed C25K at the end of last year and have now joined a running club, so running 5K 2 or 3 times a week. I'm still the slowest but I'm ok with that! I run anywhere between 34-40 mins (usual is about 37) ankles and calves starting to feel tight tho now. Would you recommend anything. I thought maybe sports massage? Looking forward to this!!

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Graduate10 in reply to Allia

ensure you rest between runs, a foam roller is great for stiffness, and I swear by Epsom baths.... If problems persist get them checked out properly...... also take the mileage up very gradually. You may want to do each week of the plan twice? see how you feel :)

Allia profile image
Allia in reply to ju-ju-

That's great advice thank you. I did the C25K by repeating a few weeks. Wish I'd kept up my fitness when I was younger! they say you're never too old to start again!! Roll on Year 55!!

Hi, I’m tallying with the idea to join. My heart really wants to do it but my head is worryingly telling me I’m not ready. How many runs will I need to commit to per week? I’m only able to find time 2 days a week at present (And I’m not comfortable going out at night ☹️) Should I wait until the days get longer and I can fit in 3 runs per week or can I get the 10k or just longer than 5k by going out twice a week? Thanks. In any case can I join just to keep me inspired? Thanks

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Graduate10 in reply to Vish-runs

Entirely up to you. If you do 2 runs a week do each week twice perhaps and take it very steadily. However 3 runs a week is preferable in order to build yourself up so you could join us later as it will be a rolling programme....

On my way to graduating the C25K for the 3rd time in a couple of weeks - will roll onto this one as soon as I have consolidated my current state (and manage to run 5k rather than 30 minutes...)! thank you for everything you do on this site Ju-ju - it is appreciated! Keep on streaking!

I thought I'd consolidate at 5k but I realise I'm a deeply shallow person who needs constant simulation to remain motivated. So I'll give it a go. What's the worst that could happen?
