Me in a nutshell

I'm a nearly 65 year old female, retired (happily) I am married (happily) I have a Cairn terrier and a ginger tom cat. I have always loved walking but am totally new to running. Now on week 8 of C25K should graduate Wednesday 22nd November. Can't believe I've come this far already. Really loving running and am thinking about running great east run next year so need to progress from 5ks so hope Bridge to 10K will help me get a bit further.

4 years ago at just a little older than you 67 , I did exactly what you are doing now. My first "long" race was a 14 KLm run with 80,000 others :) - I ran/walked it using a 2/1 ratio . You sound like you are well on your way.

You could do the Stepping Stones podcasts first. They are excellent. I run them all the time. Bridge to 10k is fun! Just go steady and progress carefully. that's the important thing. Don't overdo things

Good luck and have fun!

Couch to 5k + Stepping Stones podcasts. 3 separate podcasts to get you moved on towards Bridge to 10k. The first one is Stepping Stones, then there's Stamina and Speed

the first one is about leg building so there is some slow running on it. I run them all the time as they crop up on my playlist. They are really good. Music is Audiofuel, same as the C25k podcasts. They're free to download from here probably. If not, they're on NHS livewell site

I am just ahead of you. Same age, married, one cat but no dog! I am also a keen walker and started C25k in August, graduating in October. Since then I have been using the C25k+ podcasts and also doing some Parkruns to consolidate. I am going to try to get to 10k but not sure if I will make it. Welcome to the group and good luck with your last few runs.

Of course you’ll make it Katy! 💪🏃‍♀️😃👍✔️ Slow and steady progression will get you there and beyond

Walking is good cross training 🙂🏃‍♀️

Just remember that everyone is different. Keep going at a sensible pace for you. Enjoy your running. I graduated 2 weeks ago and repeated a week 9 run twice then have done 3 runs using Stepping Stone. For me Stepping Stone is a definite increase in my pace for some it will be slower. My next run is going to be a gentle one to mix it up a bit. But will be back on the C25K+ podcasts to help my stamina and pace.

I have downloaded stepping stone now and after I graduate (doing it all by the program) I'm definitely going to give that a go. Getting so much out of this running lark, all the great support on here is such a bonus too.
