Manic week...and a puddle splashing run!πŸ’¦πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ

Feelings of guilt this week as I failed to get out on my weekday runs due to coming back from work each day to a house which is mid-extension - meaning there was much mopping and clearing up to get through after the sterling efforts of our builders, before it could even pretend to function as a family home! As the week progressed, I have to admit I became increasingly irritible that I hadn't managed to run...would my progress be lost?..Should I do a long or short run today?..I have failed in my goal to run 3 times a week..what a lack of discipline etc etc! (You know how it goes!)

Anyway, the mornings rain had cleared and although the dark grey skies seemed to promise more, I laced up and headed out on to my trails. I can't run these on week days now as it is too dark after work (although my husband and I keep talking of a night run together (how romantic!πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸŒœπŸƒπŸ»). After a fair amount of rain throughout the week at different times, it is now a very soggy route; marshy in places through overgrown fields and the Downslink bridleway is fast becoming just a series of muddy puddles! I abandoned my half-hearted attempts to skirt around them in the end - it really is much quicker just to splash straight through them! Off and down through my favourite woodland and then under the old railway bridge before pushing on steadily to the top of the old railway cutting - tough on the legs but I am slowly getting better at it (and it is always great running down the other side! ) I run this 10k route weekly at the moment and never tire of it's beauty as we move through late autumn and on towards winter. Back home to see my Garmin says I have shaved another 2 and a half minutes off my time despite the mud. Irritability completely gone and replaced by that post run glow of satisfaction!πŸ™‚ All these things - this is why we run! Happy running this weekend everyoneπŸ˜€πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈ.

Life got in the way for a while, but it sounds like you well and truly made up for it. Well done!!

Thank you! πŸ™‚

I feel grumpy too as I missed Thursdays run due to family stuff and a twinging hip flexor. No parkrun today due to supporting hubs and friends remembrance run so I am now waiting until Mondays run. I hope I have a great run like yours was today. Sounds like a fab run for blowing away the cobwebs and clearing the mind, being one with nature.

Hope your hip feels better on Monday - mine can niggle sometimes, especially when I'm increasing distance. I do find the bridge is a great exercise for this area - glutes as well.πŸ™‚

Well done you. I'm glad to see missing mid-week runs doesn't have a disastrous effect. I only managed one mid-week run this week due to life getting in the way. After attending the local Remembrance Day parade and service this morning, I'll soon be off out for my 9km run. Only one week until the magic 10k!

Hope you had a great 9K!πŸ™‚ Is it a race next week or are you on a training programme?

Yep, completed despite the bitter north wind. I wore gloves for the first time this winter.

I'm on the 10k plan ju-ju put together some months ago. My target is 10k in less than an hour. I'm on track so far! :-)

House extension sounds exciting but also disruptive!! Lovely run report and well done for improving your time - that is great, especially considering the mud and steep hill :)
